He has acknowledged that rotating QBs slowed down development of either. But if he hadn't rotated QBs, he would likely have gone with Nelson which would have even further slowed Heaps development. Keeping in mind that our usually stellar punter also has a 1-yard punt and a 12 yard punt to his credit - I am not so sure it was as much a bad call to have the rugby punter create the potential for a fake if the opportunity was open - as it was more poor execution.
After all the crap and Gunk I hear on this board about unimaginative play calling - well this was certainly imaginative. After all the Gunk and Crap I hear on this board about getting the young players on the field and letting them make mistakes and learn from their mistakes - Well that was a young player and hopefully he learned from the learning opportunity afforded him.
You have all been calling for more JUICE and you got to see more JUICE. Didn't exactly break anything huge, but showed some promise of things to come as he is groomed for a bigger role.
Hopefully - things go better Friday night in Loggieville.

I've been in favor of playing the younger players, especially Heaps. I've been quite vocal in my expectations that this is a building year and to keep expectations low. To compare this year's freshman laden team to last year's senior team would be unfair.If you look at what else I've posted in response to today's game you'd see I was rather pleased with today's performance.
I have actually never specifically called for more JUICE; so, I'm a bit perplexed as to why I fall into your "more Juice" bucket.
Cougarbib, prior to this week Bronco has not done a good job with publicly acknowledging mistakes. Had he, half the posts on this forum would be gone. It wasn't until after the FSU loss did he really come out and admit that splitting reps with the QBs resulted in "poor execution" across the board. Anae's admittance to plunders as usual has been cryptic. Unfortunately, Bronoc now finds himself in a position where he has to win back credibility. Had he'd taken the bullets from the get go, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Heaps is a natural in front of the press. Bronco and Anae aren't and they would be the first to admit that. That's the point of my post.
