I'm sorry but nobody knows what OC got in trouble for. Plenty of straight arrows have been suspended for games at BYU for one reason or another: Manase Tonga, Fui Vakapuna, Ben Criddle, Terrance Hooks, Ian Dulan, Cole Miyahira, Fahu Tahi and I think even Nate Meikle had to sit one game once.
What's more, I was a huge proponent of Mike Reed and was giving him props when nobody else would. He was a sure thing for a third down conversion. But really there is no comparison, OC is just better than Mike in every way. He's bigger, faster and stronger. Clearly some of ya'll don't like his "stronger" personality but why then weren't you critical of other similar players like Max Hall, Austin Collie, Curtis Brown, Brady Poppinga, etc?
Yes, OC needs to do some serious soul searching to decide if this is really the best situation for him. But like Sikahema pointed out, guys like Kozlowski and Mahe actually turned something negative into something positive and went out on a high note. Plus, if OC wanted to transfer to another D1 program, he'd have to sit a year. That seems far worse than a couple of games. OC is a good kid, you don't have to look any farther than his own mother to see that's the case. He's young and impetuous and makes mistakes but what kid doesn't? And as far as expectations go, apparently some of ya'll had far greater expectations than even the scouting services had for him. He was only a 3* out of HS for crying out loud. It's not like he was expected to be the saviour of the program. He was a very talented prospect with good potential just like most of our recruits. Let the kid play and make mistakes just like any other player. If he never played another down for BYU, he would have been worth the scholie he was given IMO.
