GuestI'm hoping Linette will chime in with a few thoughts about Chambers possibly transferring. Is it the right thing for him to do? I just don't think it would work out very well for his success to do so.

Sounds like Linette was working to keep him here since yesterday. Good mom. I think he stays.

I hesitate to comment on OC in respect to his mom, but this kid has acted entitled the day he got here.
What most of you don't know about is his outbursts in practice; his reluctance to do what is asked of him to help the team at times, and his insistance that he's a premier 6'3" receiver that has NFL ability. There are and have been entitlement issues.....
I'm not sure if this team isnt' better off without him. This is a year where we need people to lead by example; not fold under the pressure or tell the coaches what they should be doing.
This kind of "me 1st" attitude can be infectious and dangerous when a team is struggling. No one is bigger than the team.
I'm reminded in many ways, how Bret Engemann came to town and how he amounted to nothing, inspite of NFL size, an NFL arm, etc. because he was a me 1st player. From minute 1, Engeman refused to allow the team to cut his hair as a freshman and then Brett Keisel, Chris Hoke, Shawn Nua, and Ryan Denney (all NFL players) proceeded to make him their punching bags in practice.
If there was ever a time for a kid to have an epiphany and turn this ship around, it would be right now; I just dont' think it will happen. In fact, I see a "me 1st" kid that thinks that it's more important to protect his pride than do the right thing.
I've had about all I can of idiots that say "I'ma do me..." and spend the rest of their lives fighting the world.
This board is full of successful attornies, businessmen, doctors, etc. I dont' think at anytime has anyone seen the benefit of trying to be bigger than the system. When that happens, the only one that fails is the individual.
The kid is getting a free education and has played on a couple of the most successful teams in BYU history; yet somehow, while others manage to stay out of trouble, he can't. That is troubling.
Maybe if "doing me" isnt' working out, then it's time to try something different. If he leaves, he'll be a nice cautionary tale for the next guys that take his spot; because there's nothing better out there for a guy with one more year of elibigility left.
Personally, I think OC is in need of some serious tough love. There are 80+ other guys on the team that aren't getting suspended.
It sounds to be like the kid has one foot in the grave and is another outburst or mistep from being kicked off the team. I guess we'll find out what kind of man he is, if he can pull that foot out and right the ship...

No one is bigger than the team or the rules.

I understand it is a person to person issue, but if you go back and review the issues with individual players, the fact is that non-LDS, non-white athletes at BYU have more issues than any other group. It is a statistically accurate fact. You can not overstate the cultural aspect of that enough, if you ask me. It is a truth, not an excuse.

Transferring would be possibly the single most stupid decision he could make, other than robbing a bank, becoming a Yewt fan, or quitting football altogether. I highly doubt Chambers leaves, he has GOT to be more sensible than that.
