Chambers to Tight End is official..

He's a good fit for the position, and we need him to really step up there because nobody else is.

Hopefully the injury situation isn't too serious - we need Reynolds bad.

Great move. Frees up McKay to put his speed to use on the outside, get O'Neill's toughness and spunk to the interior.

Only one concern, the Defense knows it's an obvious passing down when O'Neill is in at TE. I guess you just have to out-execute...

Not neccesarily, He could hold a block for a second or two even with his lighter frame. Also, if he splits out a few yards like the TE often does in our offense, it takes the LB with him, thus taking him out of the play for the most part.

Not really, I don't think Chambers is ever lining up next to the tackles, and therefore not playing tight end in the I, so it's not like they'd by asking him to do much anything different than he currently did on a running play from the shotgun.

alot of times when our our tight end is in the game on a passing down he is up right beside the tackle and split a tiny bit further. On most obvious running plays our tight ends are in tight and in three point stance. That gives it away right there anyway. I've been complaining about this for years. BYU always runs when they are in tight and rarely ever throw from that formation, so it really doesn't matter anyway.

Exactly. I take Chambers being moved to TE as more of a Chambers is being moved to the slot. BYU shows quite a few formations where the TE is standing up away from the line.

well, no one is catching much right now. I suppose the real question is do we have more un-realized talent at TE or WR? seems like we have more at TE and fewer spots for them play. I'm not sure I agree with this move based on what I've seen. I wonder what they see?

This is a great move. Shouldn't this get Chambers on the field more?

All I know is that we have too many TE's on he roster that are not getting it done to have chambers become a slot guy. The depth we thought we had there is unproven, not performing, and not worth it just yet. This group better improve fast, or at least have 2 guys separate and make plays on the field. Depth means nothing when none can make a play.

I like this move for Chambers, but even more importantly, this means we see much much more from Hoffman. And since that 6'5 wonderman is the only one currently getting open and subsequently catching balls, we need to see him more often.

This is what I was thinking as well...

I just hope he can learn the role enough to be effective now.
