FSU Strengths and Weaknesses

What have you noticed about their strengths and weakness this year? Do you have data to back it up?

Weakness: Passing Efficiency Defense. FSU is ranked 103. The PED is 150.61. BYU's record since 2000 in games with a PE of 150 or better: 44-5 (.898).

Coming in t his year, the supposed strengths were the QB play, with Ponder being a senior and a pass-run threat, and the experienced offensive line, having a total combined starts greater than any other NCAA school, I believe. During fall camp and summer, lost their top 2 WRs, so lack experience at the position, and have no real go to RB yet. Defense is the weakness, especially passing D. Max lit them up last year, even though we lost that one. We had near 600 yards total offense.



Basically, FSu wants to play ball control, keep the D off the field, and let he O-line and Ponder win it. In the OU game, Landry Jones lit them up down the field big time and their secondary looked BAD BAD BAD. That forced FSU to have to throw it more, and OU pressured like crazy. basically, they, like AFA, and better when playing from ahead. Get them down, make them one dimensional, and they are not good enough in that area yet to win. Let's hope we can play from ahead, because it shocked me how poorly we played from behind last saturday. Never felt like we would make a run, and that is unusual with BYU.

I get more and more hopeful about this game each day.



Did anybody here the interview with their db reed who had that pick 6 last year that basically completely changed the game? He full on admitted to the foul. He said he turned around expecting there to be a flag. He said it was a gift.



I hope we burn that guy this year. Here is to our receivers having a big game this saturday.

Jimbo says FSU is young (like BYU), says they start 6 freshmen (BYU starts none?), their passing D seems to be a weakness, which is why I've said for a couple of weeks, the coaches should turn Heaps loose for at least a half and see what he can do.



Bronco has stated Nelson will start. Ok, but strategy wise, I would put Heaps in all of the second and third quarters and let him throw. If he is doing well, let him finish the game as well.

I remember being pretty disgusted with that pick, he held the receiver, and sling-shotted himself around and picked it. That was a huge momentum swing and basically was the beginning of the end - a terrible no-call.
