1996 The Good Old Days

Watching the 97 Cotton Bowl on the Altitude Channel right now.



This in my opinion was the best BYU team ever.



Things to appreciate:



DB's that dominate and can line up on the line of scrimmage.



Shay Muirbrook one of the best LB's in BYU history.



James Dye having the ability to go to the house each time he touches the ball.



Having Ronney Jenkins line up next to James Dye on kick returns. Pick your poison.



Norm Chow calling plays. Creative play calling. Knows hot to get the ball to the play makers. First play of the game they had James Dye lining up as fullback and he did a quick flare pass that went for 25 yards. Same drive hit KO Keoalalue on a reverse for 20 yards. Do you think Anae has ever pulled out the old game films and took notes?...



How long has it been since we had a kicker that you were confident in their ability to make a field goal from any where within 50 yards...(I'd take 30 yards field goals right now)



Ronney Jenkins playing as a true freshman. I bet he had a carry before the third game of the year.



The uniforms looked pretty good too.

tight ends Chad Lewis and Itula Mili

Dang that was a good year and that very well was the best team we ever had. But I would not trade our most recent 3-1 record over Utah (and how we won those games) for '96....
