Can Bronco fire Anae?

There were rumors that Anae was hired before Bronco, and that part of the deal with Bronco getting the job was he had limited ability to select his staff.



Was that all rumor? If it happens to be true, based on his success, has he been given the autonomy to run the program and make changes as he sees fit?



As for possible replacements for Anae, Robbie Bosco is still an employee of the school, and if he wanted to get back into coaching, he's an obvious choice.



Leach is a pipe dream, but he is a BYU grad, and may be black balled from another position for a few years. Don't think his laid back attitude would mix well with Bronco though.



Kragthorpe, former Tulsa and Louisville coach, whose father worked for coach Edwards, might be an option. Not LDS, but he at least understands the culture.



There is an LDS OC out there named Stubbs, but I don't know anything else about him. He was one of the longshot candidates when Bronco got hired.



Danny White would be an interesting choice as well. Mostly coached arena football, but probably would be able to put together a good offense.



Chow, Reid and Crowton won't be in the mix for obvious reasons.



Ty Detmer, while hailed as basically an extra QB coach during his 14 year NFL career, is just starting his first year of actual coaching in high school in texas. And it's a small private school.



Anyone have any input on this. I know there is a whole fire Anae thread, but I started this one because I wanted to discuss the idea of how much control Bronco had/has over the staff.

Bronco hired Anae. Bronco went into Tom Holmoe's office and lobbied hard for the job. He knew he was an underdog for the job, so he had to have his complete coaching plan together, and part of his plan involved bringing the efficiency of the Texas Tech offense to BYU, and the key to that half of his coaching plan was Robert Anae. Bronco wanted the offense that could do exactly what his defense is supposed to dare offenses to do--drive the length of the field through consistency and execution, not through big plays.



The rumor started because the two hires were announced the same day, the argument being that Bronco couldn't have had time to go through an intensive search and interview process between the time he was hired and the time Anae was brought in. However, Anae was on board with Bronco before Bronco even got the job.

Thank you. That brings me to another question. Do really successful teams need to be able to score quickly sometimes with big plays?

He could fire him but he won't. Did Leach really attend BYU? I know he is LDS but that is all I know of him. I don't know if he would be a cultural fit.

Leach is known around Lubbock for his drinking ways. Therefore, not a cultural fit at BYU.

FWIW, I live next door to Leach's parents-in-law, and 3 doors down from his wife's sister. I asked them recently about Leach, and how he was doing. They said he's "enjoying his vacation", and that he's "now active again". Sooooooo....MAYBE part of his re-activation could be a few years as the OC at BYU? Pipe dream...but would be nice.



However, I think you'll see Leach as a HC somewhere next year.
