What I don't understand...

is why do we have so many freshmen that can't get out of the coaches dog house?



Pendleton didn't have a great year because he switched over to LB last year, he had a great year because he is a good athlete. He should have played his freshman year, as our DB two years ago were some of the worst I have seen in a long time. (That is the year we had Johnson playing CB, because of how bad our CB's actually were. Remember Howard? :sick: :sick: :sick: )



He could have contributed his freshman year, but rode the pine all year.



- JJ fumbles but still gets the ball right back, then proceeds to fumble again.

- OC and Jacobsen can't release. Ashworth just plain gives up on a very catchable deep ball (I don't want to see him on the field again).

- Nelson is gameplanned against, and returns to his "happy feet" tuck and run attitudes. He fumbles and gets right back into his rotation, but Heaps throws a pick, and gets benched the rest of the game.

- Bradley is a good pass defender, but couldn't shake a run block all night. And was run at, all night.

- Thomas looked absolutely ridiculous, all night. And was only pulled at the end of the game (not after his blown coverage led to the easiest 6 AF has ever seen.)

- Frazier had bad angles all game, and wouldn't hit the freakin qb when he was one step away. KVN couldn't have done any worse, and probably a lot better.



I'm glad Falslev finally got a chance after the circus that has been chambers returning punts. That should have happened last year.

Good points. A lot of players played terrible yesterday, but Thomas could have been the worst. I said after last game that I thought Thomas was bad and the worst of our starters on D. I don't understand why he'd played for so long without being pulled. The guy is an absolute liability on D. Frazier played like a freshman yesterday. He had one big play but other than that he was pretty bad. Why not give KVN a chance? I know Bronco said that back-ups didn't get many reps last week because of the amount of preparation for AFA but come on, if something isn't working then you have to adjust.



I didn't see any positive coaching adjustments yesterday. In fact the only adjustments I saw were negative adjustments. You want to talk about knee-jerk reactions. They pull Heaps after his first Int. That's a great way to instill confidence in your QB of the future. Then they put him in on a 4th a 2 and AFA calls a TO and then they put Riley back in. Just absolutely terrible. Our coaching execution was worse than our player's execution.



We all knew that this was a rebuilding year and that's why it's even more important that we get Heaps a lot of experience. He's already shown through his HS days that he makes mistakes but knows how to bring his team back and win. Heaps had an open man on that Int and made a good decision but definitely executed poorly by not getting some loft on the ball. Let the kid prove how he can react to some adversity.

A few promising freshmen off the top of my head who need to start getting more experience so that we can be a better team come independence: Heaps, Van Noy, Quezada, Apo, Stout

Apo is out for 6 weeks. Bryson and Tuiloma need to get more PT. We need to find an answer at FS, whether it's to give Uale a chance or move Galiai (sp. ?) to FS and give him a chance there. We might even need to get Phillips some reps but I wouldn't be mad to see him redshirt.
