Me too, it seemed odd unless Heaps has some injury that we dont know about. I say heaps is the starter from here on out. Nothing against Riley, just think Heaps needs experience.

I don't know if I really want that, but I'm fairly certain that it's definitely not going to to happen. Why all of the sudden start the QB that they didn't play at all in most of the second half? I definitely feel that Heaps got the short end of the stick today, but he hasn't shown that he's ready to start yet.

Heaps would have been killed if he played as a pocket passer. We had no OL protection - and no open receivers or ones that could catch. They probably kept him out because he counldn't scramble and make some yards when under pressure and most of all - keep him from getting injured.

OMG, we were playing Air Force and we couldn't protect the QB. Someone please tell me I'm in the twilight zone!

Me too. At least let Heaps have a chance in the second half.

We have big OL but they were slow to react to AF DL. Our QB had little time to make reads because of the pressure. What hurt us even more, is we couldn't establish the running game which sets up the passing game. AF DL had no respect for our run game and basically dared us to pass because their DB had our receivers blanketed.

GARBAGE. Had Heaps played, AFA would not have come after him so much because they would respect his passing. They didn;t sack him in teh first half, did they? No. they blitzed like crazy to cut down on running lanes for Riley because they had ZERO respect for his passing abilities. Riley's limitations were a huge issue today, and it is denial to see it any other way. AFA was gap blitzing because they schemed Riley as run first and were right. they did not do that early, and Riley had more success. Once they did, Riley was garbage. AFA just gave teh blueprint to stop Riley is all I know.

Agreed - not sure what game others were watching but it wasn't the one I watched north of Colorado Springs this afternoon.

I don't see Anae and Doman turning the reigns over to Heaps on the road in ACC territory next week. Therefore, they play Nelson so he might be more prepared for FSU.

I don't see that happening unless they want to write off the season and hope for 6 or 7 wins. While Nelson's accuracy is below poopy, he again had no help from our stellar wr crew.

During the post-game interview on KSL radio, Bronco was asked specifically why they went with Nelson through the entire course of the 2nd half and said that he didn't know himself, and that he hadn't conferred with Doman and Anae since prior to the end of the game. He did say that he does give Doman and Anae "a lot of latitude to make decisions prior to and during the course of the game.". Unless I've perceived Bronco's statements incorrectly, I would like to think that he would have been informed as to the reason why they continued to go with Nelson, especially after the game had gotten out of hand in the middle of the 4th qtr.

I didn't see the pressure you guys are talking about. It is normal to hold the DL's for about 3-4 seconds before they are able to get to the QB. Riley had time but either nobody was open, he didn't trust his arm as much as he did his legs, or he felt he had to be the one to make the play. He was tucking the ball while still in the pocket. Since when does a qb tuck the ball while still dropped back. They usually run towards the line with the ball ready to fly but not Riley. I think they should have turned the show over to Heaps in the fourth to give him some snaps. That may seem to be "surrendering" but it sure didn't seem like Riley was going to make much happen. Tuck and go for 2 yards. Not a very efficient play if you ask me.



And what happened to being focused. I don't think anyone on the filed with a Y on his helmet was focused. Players were trying to make "the play" instead of doing their asignment. The fumbles, the penalties, the missed assignments, the drops, the immediate scrambles, the shanked punts, the list seems to just keep going. Sad, sad performance.

Interesting comments. I did not see the game but listened on the radio. Multiple times Mark Lyons stated that McKay was open on the short cross route but Riley never looked at him. Rather he looked down field for a moment and then tucked it in and ran. I think some of that is perhaps that Riley is a run first pass next sort of QB...AF did not respect his passing it sounds and it showed. Perhaps Riley got the second half to see what he could do and provide some info on just where he can take this team....Today at least is that the info is pretty bad. I am NOT blaming him or the coaches for the loss-- I doubt Max Hall would have won this game for us today the way the defense got dominated and the turnovers occured and in the end what we saw was AF impose ITS will on us. But....I do not think we will go far with our QB being the leading rusher in terms of carries--Riley rushed more times than ALL the other running backs put together

Not often do I question or go against what Bronco says but if I was involved in that kind of failure as a project manager I would be fired. Now I'm NOT saying Bronco should be fired. What I am saying is he is running the WHOLE show even if he let's those under him direct in their positions. The project manager/coach should always know what those under him are doing and should always be kept up to date so in my experience he definately knows. I just can't see him not knowing why his second QB was not in the game and sharing reps????? PLEASE!!!

The game was a monumental failure of the coaching staff. Dropped balls --- teachable, shanked punts---teachable, defensive positioniong ---- teachable. All of these are things you TEACH and have to be taught to such a young group. We may be talented but we are young and it's obvious they haven't YET been taught what they need to know.



Come on Chambers --- they teach you in pee-wee league to drop on a fumble not try and pick it up! Unacceptable!!!
