CFN's assessment--BYU by 3 and a 4 rating on the must watch scale. Considering the other match-ups this weekend, that's not too shabby.

I think even ESPN heard too much of themselves talking BYU over the last several weeks. The scheduling guy (Brown?) who spoke at the presser was enthusiastic but the media/announcer/ writer side of ESPN arent necessarily impressed. That or they are waiting till next year to hype BYU more.

They do have a preview on ESPN, it's just less than comprehensive.

...But still probably not important enough or big enough of a game to appear on TV previews? Plus its still the MWC and BYU is barely ranked.

The reason we aren't showing up in the TV previews is the fact that we are unranked in the AP poll, which is the poll ESPN uses. So, to ESPN we are unranked.

ESPN only does and has only ever done previews for the top 25 teams. I realize that BYU broke into the Coaches Poll but since ESPN removed their name from the Coaches Poll a few years back, I think they stopped using it to report rankings on their site/networks.



What's more, ESPN still has to try to appear the part of the "impartial" broadcaster. Of course their favoritism leaks through at times (Adam James stuff, whenever reporting about the SEC, etc.) but they try to mask it whenever possible.

I think this game has received good hype considering it's air force. Rivals considers it the main game to not overlook this week, and several posters on different college fball forums are looking forward to the game. Hope we win. A matchup next week between a ranked BYU and ranked FSU would be great... Unless we play crappy again.
