It's pretty much a draw. AFA by 1.5 across the board with one service picking BYU by 1.

With the history BYU has against AFA it is almost easy money for a betting man. YR2009~38-21, YR2008~38-24, YR2007~31-6, YR2006~33-14, YR2005~62-41, YR2004~41-24...all BYU wins. In 2003 and 2002 we had losses to AFA...we also had 2 of our 3 worst seasons in 30 years in 2002 and 2003. Even 2004 was a losing season as far as our record goes but we began our winning streak against AFA back in 2004. Bottom line if we lose to AFA this year then we will be looking at a sub .500 season this year. That is not going to happen.

As I mentioned in another thread, BYU's record in Colorado Springs in September with a new starting QB at the helm is 0-2. BYU is only 6-4 against Air Force in September--not exactly dominant. I'm expecting a one score game at least into the 4th quarter.

2000: A poor year for BYU football.



1995: A very good year for AFA, their second best team in recent history ('98 being the best). 6-2 in the WAC and a narrow loss to Texas Tech in the Copper Bowl.

The 1995 Air Force team went 8-5 and was on par with Air Force teams of 2007-09 that went 9-4 or 8-5 with bowl wins or close losses. In 1995, BYU was coming off a 10-3 season with an impressive bowl win over Oklahoma and a high final ranking and most figured BYU to have a decent team despite losing John Walsh. No one expected the 1995 Air Force team to win because prior to the game, BYU had won 12 in a row against the Cadets--losing to Air Force was unheard of! Then out of the blue, Air Force hammered BYU 38-12, leading 38-6 until BYU added a late TD.
