Week Two Expert results

Staffieri (6-1)

Week One is in the books. Some of the games were closer than expected and other games went just like the book was written. As far as the expert picks there were no real disappointments as most experts had very similar picks. Many of you also had similar picks. The only big thing that stood out was that all experts had CSU to win over CU. Quite the opposite happened as CU dominated CSU with ease. Maybe the expert picks give an insight into why college football has been a turn off for some since the inception of the BCS and the prior systems of the Bowl Alliance and the Bowl Coalition. There is no reward for playing big name teams. In fact it seems you are rewarded for playing inferior competition. Sure the little guys may win a game or two when they are clear underdogs (i'e:Jackson State over Ole Miss or North Dakota State over Kansas ), but if you are a gambling man, You have some safe bets this week. There clearly are favored teams this week much like last week. One way to tell if you are favored in MWC competition this week? If you play a MWC team or you are a MWC team and your name has Texas in it you will win...you will more than likely win your game. Place your picks and remember this thread locks at kick off of the first MWC game that is played this Saturday.

...and if you were wondering...snoscythe was dry heaving knowing that he has had to pick UofU two weeks in a row so he asked if the U helmet could be placed upside-down...request granted.

The only one I even thought twice about was the SDSU game. I also think CSU could surprise us, but if I picked them, it wouldn't be a surprise. ;)

There was a part of me that wanted to play the role of Jason Franchuk and have multiple underdog picks....then I thought...I don't want to be like that dork. :P



As far as the picks getting interesting...I think that will happen come conference play.

I suggest that you throw in 2 national games of interest each week, along with the MWC picks, to make it tougher. Michigan-Notre Dame would be fun to pick, so would UCLA-Stanford, etc. The MWC games are just too by the books.



I think everyone nailed it this week I wouldn't change a thing.

To clarify are your picks the same as the "experts" or are you picking UNLV over Utah?

Funny thing. I can't hope for something to happen, then choose the opposite in a pick 'em contest (maybe that's why I never win them). I want my hopes for the game to be congruent with my picks, I guess.



Anyway, I hope Utah loses. :crazy: :P So, I'll agree with all the picks, but will gladly stand as the lone pick for the rebels.



I've run a College Football pick'em at work for the past 13 years (I've never won and am in last place after week one this year). We pick on five games each week: the three Utah schools, and two other games. In choosing the other two games to pick on this year, I scan down the schedule of games on a site that also shows the vegas odds. I choose two games with very close odds that include top 25 teams and/or bigger schools. (This week was the Alabama/Penn State and the Michigan/Notre Dame games).

I certainly wouldn't be opposed to adding a few marquee matchups each week to the picks, just to add some variety.

Consider one marquee game added starting next week then.

And throw out some random game that no one will no much about like two Sun Belt teams playing.
