SpiffCougI didn't get to see the game, but I did listen to it and just watched the highlights. I've entered the stats and are some of my observations and concerns.
- The offense was decent. We only had two three-and-outs.
- We only had two "explosive" plays (plays of 20 or more yards) - last year we averaged five a game.
- We had great field position. Average start: own 39. UW avg start: own 14.
- Third down conversion was very poor. (QBs rating on 3rd down: 124.10)
- Riley was very effective and thought more game ready. Jake settled down at times, but never got settled.
- We had 33 first down plays, only 13 turned into second and long and only seven of those turned into third and long. UW had 29 first down plays, 15 turned into second and long and 13 of those turned into third and long.
- Locker's accuracy is what it was last year: poor to average.
- While no turnovers is good, we did put the ball on the turf way too much.
- BYU is now 13-5 in games decided by 7 or less under Bronco. We started 1-5 under him.
- BYU is now 36-3 under Bronco when we have at least 33 rushing attempts (33 vs UW).
