The Infamous Turf.

How did the turf look yesterday? I thought it was much improved over last year. In fact, it LOOKED amazing. Except for that awkward slide that Heaps took, I didn't notice entire chunks of grass coming up like last year.

It came up in the post game with Wrubell, Lyons, and Johnson, that the field was much improved over last year. Standard divots came up, but nothing like the sheets that came up last year.



The grounds people attribute this to going back to culinary water (vice canal water...seriously, whoever thought that canal water should be used on a NCAA football field was smoking crack) improved the turf considerably.

Right, and the announcers seem to make a big deal about it as well during the game, said it looked awesome and almost artificial-looking. Sounds like a big improvement over last year... Guess it really did take a year to get to be awesome

The field from my west side stands seat looked wonderful. I said to my son during the game that it looked so good that it appeared to be artificial. Wow, had a difference a few months made once they figured out what to do.

Culinary water better than river water for grass? That doesn't make any sense.



I've been on AF River water for my lawn since April, and it doesn't seem to know the difference. Except that I'm watering it a little more, and the lawn likes it. Why would water without chlorine or ozone be better for turf?

Last night they said that it was the sediments in the canal water that was causing the problems.
