Grading the UW game

If I were to give the team a grade this is how I would rank it.



QB: first half B-, second half B, overall grade B, too many misreads

RB: JJ B, the rest D

Recievers: C, too many drops and missed routes

Oline: A, opened up good holes and protected the QB,s very well, in fact I don't remember the QB's taking any hits in the pocket.

Special Teams: A, one missed field goal but punts and kick off coverage was great. BYU's punt returns usually gave us decent field position.

Defensive line: B, did great containing Locker, but gave up some huge holes for Polk

Linebackers: B- seemed to be in a lot of plays, but did let a couple of plays get away from them

Not bad for a first game but there are some areas that do need a little more work.

I'd increase Kariya's score also, he had a crucial 3rd down conversion for us and did some incredible blocking all game long---he's a big reason why there were no hits on the qb in the pocket.

Considering it was the first game of the year playing an opponent with good skill personnel, and the fact we won and had no major injuries, I'd give it a solid B+. Room to improve, but got the job done. Win as a team, lose as a team, and BYU won as a team yesterday. Hence the team grade.

you have to give our entire offense some credit for not turning the ball over even once... especially when you consider how young they are and that this was the first game of the year.

You have a point here and I did notice and was impressed with Kariya staying in the backfield and picking up the rush as well as JJ so I guess I would raise the other RB perhaps to a c+
