I'm not worried about chambers, he'll get better, it the first game

Chambers has lost my confidence. He's a junior, and still fumbling the ball? two fumbles yesterday, and he look so slow on kickoffs and punts. He's the wrong guy back there, slow and fumbles.



Payne has lost my confidence, his kicks were awful, even the one's he made, all barely cleared the left upright--disappointing.



Ok, it was the first game of the year, but looks like guys played the same they played in fall camp, dropped passes, QBs inconsistent, didn't separate themselves.



Coaches say the most improvement occurs between the first and second game; that needs to be true for these guys.



I gained respect for the defense, some of those new guys are going to be really good, but they give up too many big plays.



I still worry about special teams, kicking, returns, fumbles. Our special teams defense was pretty good though.

So Payne misses 1 40 plus yarder and makes two field goals and you have lost confidence in him. Margin of victory on Saturday was two field goals even though UW kicked a 50 yarder. Sark should have taken a field goal when he called the I'll-advised bomb to the end zone Locker overthrew and then he would have been able to kick another one to tie it the next time they were down there. I have not lost confidence in Payne inside 40 yards. He will win a game for us this season and was a big part of this win.

Wow, look at everybody jumping the gun and selling out certain players. It's the first game of the season, everybody made some mistakes and tightened things up in the second half. I have lost some confidence in our fan base if they're this quick to throw players under the proverbial bus.

Well, it's that some of those guys are juniors, and they're still playing like first year freshmen; that's what disappoints me. Frankly, I never saw much in Chambers to like, he fumbled as a freshman, and as a sophomore, and now as a junior. I don't know if he is slow, but he accelerates slowly, and he has no moves. I expect him to have some moves, he has none, he's a straight line runner. Give me DiLuigi any day over him. J.J. won my respect yesterday, he's a player, and will be great this year.



Maybe you saw the quote my Bronco the other day in which he talked about putting Chambers in the spot where Pitta lined up last year; essentially playing Chambers as a tight end, in passing situations. I think that is revealing. He's too slow to be a wideout, but fast enough to be a tight end type.



I guess I expect a senior kicker to step up and nail a 40 yard field goal. He didn't just miss it, he missed it badly, then his other kicks, including his extra point kicks, just slip inside the left upright. I think he was lucky to hit any of his kicks. And if we're relying on him to win games for us??? we're going to lose those games because he's unreliable and erratic as a kicker. Still, he's our kicker, so we live and die by his kicks. And if he is reliable under 40 yards (he missed at 40 yesterday), then we should never waste a FG try beyond 39 yards.

Can we get stats anywhere? I would like to know if Van Noy played.

Van Noy got a few series. Frazier got the majority.



The ILB's played awesome. I was really impressed with Jorgensen, Leng Wei and Hunter most, though. Their pursuit was really good from sideline to sideline.

I'm not going to touch the Chambers argument here (I do like him, though). I will say this, though: Chambers has got to have the best "fumble-to-actual-negative-consequences" ratio in the history of college football. I think that has more to do with luck than anything else, but still. Seems like every time he drops a ball, it rolls out of bounds or the refs rule his knee was down.

I thought Wilson looked to be the best pass receiver we have. He got open often and made some good catches. Should have had a TD had Heaps thrown him a catchable ball, because he was 2 steps open. But Muehlmann did the heavy lifting with the blocking in the 2nd half. I like that combo too. One guy to make plays down the field, the other to do the dirty work effectively. This group will only get better too.

I'm still mad at Wilson about the dropped touchdown pass. Would've been nice for Heaps to get a passing TD, and it would've also given us a comfortable cushion on our lead for the rest of the game.

It was a poor throw. The ball was not even catchable really. Reminded me of the bad throw Max made in the same spot in the end zone in the Utah game last year. That one was all on Jake.

did anyone see Chambers awesome falling-backwards one-handed catch? It was out of bounds, but still very impressive.

I was happy to see our very first TD of the year came from Juice. I was shocked, cause isn't he a third stringer RB, but I think he was in the slot???

We bought my wife's parent's "donor seats." Everything is great about the seats except for being in a crowd of ornery crows who grumble about every decision made in the game, won't sing the fight song, cheer, or make noise for the defense, and yell at us when we stand up.
