Were Beck, Hall, Feterik, Doman, Walsh, etc. included?

I wonder how they manage to have this QB legends week and how the "non legends" feel right now.



I know both Beck and Hall could easily be there. Anyone know if they were at least invited to the festitivities ,etc? I understand not watering down the pool when in many ways this is Mcmahons weekend, but Beck and Hall are BYU legends as far as I'm concerned.

I think it takes some time to become a legend. People really appreciate what you did only after you've been gone for some time (man, it sounds like I'm saying the legends are dead...). I personally don't see Walsh, Doman, or Feterik as BYU legends, I think that Beck is on the cusp, and that Hall will be included in years to come.

Weren't each of the QB's invited also All Americans?

The point, is that if you're a QB that had played at BYU, how does it feel when they pick out "legends" and your contributions were not aknowledged.



Obviously none of the players on that list above are "legends" as it stands right now, and most are n't even close or ever will be. I just wonder if BYU considered involving all BYU quarterbacks that had made a significant contribution; maybe not to come on the field etc, but just to be there and be counted.



BYU has to take some serious satisfaction in the fact that Beck and Hall are NFL quarterbacks. In terms of BYUs desire for exposure, those guys aren't hurting us one bit right now. (In fact the majority of the quarterbacks that took snaps in the 2000s got paid to be on an NFL roster this decade - Doman, Beck, Hall - only the post Doman Crowton years don't boast an NFLer 02-04)

That would be a much easier way to delineate "legend" for the purposes of this weekend. Eventually Max Hall has to be included simply by being the winningest of all.

Isn't this to get those "great" QB's together AND not specifically a certain individual?

While I'm not confident Beck is going to make the Redskins after his performance the other night (fingers crossed), I believe he should be on the list on account of his last play in a Cougar uniform that wasn't a bowl game. "Plenty of time, plenty of time, plenty of time...." That last drive was monumental and only a few QB's in our history can make that throw rolling right and throwing all the way back across the field all the while knowing you are going to get your bell rung.

I thought they were specifically honoring All American quarterbacks who played under LaVell Edwards.

It was actually a 3 yr $3 mill deal, though no idea how much of that is guaranteed ( the moment that Washington doesn't like him, he's not getting paid; but they also lose his rights). Regardless, Beck is plenty healthy, will always have that arm and should have no trouble getting paid for another 6-7 years. The real difficulty for a QB in the NFL is breaking in. Once they do, Vet backups are valuable commodities. (just look at Pittsburgh right now)



Max has accomplished what most rookie free agents never do or could never imagine; impress so much that a team would rather drop a still young and healthy former Heisman winner so that they don't lose him. I'm just in awe of Max Hall right now.

Exactly. They didn't subjectively invite the QB's that came; there was a clear criterion: First Team All-American.
