While independence was a great move for BYU, Richins' personal independence decision to leave BYUTV as a play-by-play guy to run a BYU blog was epic bad-timing. He probably thought he was leaving a dead-end job for greener pastures, and boy did he mistime it.

I'm sure there will be plenty of openings at BYUtv for sports analysts if he wanted to go back. I'm actually hoping someone like Craig Bolerjack or Vai Sikahema would be interested in the job. I'm sure they won't have the broadcasting students (the kids who look like they're about 12) running things when millions of people are watching. That will be fine for True Blue, but it won't cut it for gameday broadcasts.

I hope they go for Blaine Fowler as the analyst and then add a decent play by play guy. I have always like Blaine and how he calls a game. did a great job for BYU way back pre-MTN deal. And they should get Sammy Linebaugh for sideline reports. Steal her from the MTN.

Didn't Blaine Fowler who worked for the Mountain just switch over to BYUtv? I bet he is going to get a shot at calling some of the games. Just my thought as they had him on yesterday as the key spokesman right before the teleconference on BYUtv.

I have played golf with Blaine many times, but the last was over 15 years ago. He lives in Farmington/Kaysville area and I was in Farmington and went to Davis High, where his boys and Brian Kariya went. Used to play a mid week, mid day round with a group we both played in. Blaine is a solid good guy, and I am glad that BYU-tv took him, if that is true. He is the perfect fit for BYU broadcasts on BYU-tv.

Any chance BYUtv gets to tie in the KSL play by play feed with Wrubell and Lyons? It would complete my lifelong dream of having synced KSL audio with football video.

Sounds like it will be Dave McCann and Blaine Fowler. I'd be just fine with that.

Great player, but I hope Todd Christensen doesn't sneak his way in. His commentary is beyond annoyting.
