The nation does not get it.

I understand a lot of them, really. BYU never plays in a BCS game as an independent? A debatable point. ND over BYU this next decade? Hey, I think ND can turn things around. BYU as the worst conference move this summer? I think BSU is a bad move now that things have changed, but BYU is really the only case where "from lesser conference to better conference" isn't the storyline, so I get that too.



But BYU & Utah leaving < BSU, FSU and Nevada joining? I would LOVE to hear half of America try to explain that. Really.

There must be a lot of BSU, Fresno and Nevada fans voting, either that or people believe the consequences from adding Fresno and Nevada will be a bigger deal then losing Utah and BYU.



The MWC lost it's two top money makers and had a decent chance at becoming it's own BCS conference if Utah and BYU had stayed in, especially with the addition of BSU. Now...back to square one.

The MWC lost it's two top money makers and had a decent chance at becoming it's own BCS conference if Utah and BYU had stayed in, especially with the addition of BSU. Now...back to square one.

Check out the map. The west says losing BYU and Utah. The east says adding BSU, FSU and UNR. I would not have guessed that.

Actually, I don't think this one is that far fetched. BSU and the MWC have been the cinderella stories of college football for the past few years (in an "aren't they cute?" sense), so bringing them together is a no-brainer for the typical no-brain, former player, talking head on the sports channels. Understanding the seriousness of Utah and BYU leaving requires someone to actually research the economics, demographics, and dynamics of the MWC, not just box scores, and that is well beyond the capabilities (and interest) of BCS fans/commentators.



Actually I understand the thinking behind all of the responses, even though they show badly we need the right kind of exposure. When Nick Saban and Jim Tressel are complaining about our "24-year-old freshmen," we will have accomplished our purpose. :)

I hear you, but that still doesn't excuse it. If we're looking at this from the BCS fans/commentators perspective (i.e. short-termed, and based on rankings and marquee games), they should at least be able to do the following:



Utah = 2 BCS bowl wins.

BSU = 2 BCS bowl wins.



It then becomes an even trade: do Fresno and Nevada more than make up for BYU? I guess this may go beyond the layman's knowledge, but in the last 5 years, FSU has been ranked for two short time periods, both times early in the season. I don't know if Nevada has EVER been ranked.



That's not a disrespect to either program (I've enjoyed watching FSU in the past, at least) but I don't know HOW you can argue they even come close to compensating for a team that ended the last 4 seasons ranked.
