Husky Defense Looking Forward To Jake Heaps

Interesting quote from Mason Foster (beast / Sr. LB / Def. Captain) in this article on the Husky defense:


"I didn't even really know he was from around here until a couple weeks ago," Foster said. "That's going to make it a little more exciting -- a big-time recruit from the state of Washington that went to another school and will play as a true freshman. It's going to be fun to get a couple of hits on him."

I guess when you're a senior on a team that has lost more road games in a row than any other team in the country and your only two road wins during your tenure on the team were against an awful Syracuse and mediocre Stanford almost 3 years ago, then you get used to looking for positives. For instance, the hope that you might be able to maybe get to the quarterback of a team that throws it 30+ times a game.



Just kidding, sort of. Good luck this weekend and I hope you have a great season, except for this weekend of course. Also, please destroy Utah next year and in the foreseeable future. Finally, there's a chance that if this weekend's game is good that we'll be meeting up in the LV Bowl in December. :)

Is it possible for any article to be written that doesn't mention Locker's penalty from 2008? Also what is the definition of flicking the ball? Does the ball traveling 20 yards in the air and having 3 seconds hang time still fall under flicking?

Or as Lou Holtz explained it Locker was just raising his arms in celebration, it wasn't his fault that the ball slipped out of his hands.

The ref called it by the book. Get mad at the rule but you can't blame the ref for following the rules.

The media loves to portray Locker as the victim in the 2008 game. The poor guy 'accidentally' threw the ball over the uprights after the touchdown and the ref had the gall to throw a flag.



Every time I see one of our guys lightly toss or spin the ball to the ground after a touchdown I cringe knowing that a flag could be thrown. The refs are very sensitive to excessive celebration. If you watch or play college football you are familiar with the rule. By removing that play from the context of that game it would be a no brainer penalty, but because it was at the end of the game and at a critical point the ref should have kept the flag in his pocket? If that is the case amend the rule.



Also, if you can't get a 30 yard field goal past your offensive line do you really deserve to win?

Lucky for us, Perkins is long gone and we got a stud at kicker now in Folk (as much as a kicker can be a stud, lol ).

The only thing Washington should be blaming BYU for is blocking their kick. An extra point is an extra point.

Only two Heismans??? I have heard tale from some very knowledgeable sources, high placed in college football that not only two Heismans, but also the Butkus, the Outland, the Rimington, and the Gagliardi awards. Is there anything that Polk can't do? I've heard also that Playboy is asking him to do the centerfold in the December magazine. I'm amazed.

For UW fans, the good news is that many of its defenders are coming back. The bad news is that most of its defenders are coming back...

LOL. UW's defensive rankings last season:



Rushing D = #64

Pass Efficiency D = #99

Pass D = #93

Total D = #79

Scoring D = #70



Maybe with a year's experience under their belts this team can improve.....to average.

Who cares anyway. it was blocked. and even if it went in it would have only made the game a tie. they lost fair and square. even with a 15 yard penalty, you should make that every time.
