With us making more money will LES expand sooner?

I for one think and hope BYU is considering expanding the stadium sooner rather than later. I'm tired of hearing that if we keep selling it out maybe they'll consider it in 10 or so years. Maybe that's just with mtn. Payout? Does anyone have any idea that If the money were to start flowing in at a higher wage if this is something that could end up happening sooner? I think the stadium needs a bit of a tune up some areas look pretty bad in my opinion, the Marriot center could also use a bit of work but I think it's probably fine for a little while. Any thoughts?

We don't need to expand. We need to update. Add more luxury boxes. Make more seats.

I'm tired of hearing people say it's not physically possible to expand the stadium due to it's current structure. If Boise can luck out on crappy teams, Utah can have 2 good years in the history of their past 100 years and join the pac-0. BYU can hire nasa and expand the stadium.

I must be getting old because I would have thought that adding more seats would involve expanding. What am I missing?

If it were just a money issue, it would have been done some time ago. Bigger isn't always better.

It costs significantly more money to expand a stadium than you will recoup in ticket sales. Most expansions are paid for from major donations. End zone seats are going for around $18 per game. If they fill in the corners those prices are probably the same or less. It takes a lot of $18 tickets to cover a $50 million renovation. Adding luxury boxes/suites is a better revenue maker but they just get sold to corporations so it doesn't affect the average fan (just people with means...like craigo...). The main benefit for expansion would just be the fact that more fans are packing the stadium. Start losing games and you will see a lot of empty seats in the new sections.

The BYUtv volleyball match had a clip asking Tom H about expansion. He said filling in the corners is not an option, that they woudl be bad seats. He said after 10 years of sellouts. That there is not a 10,000 waiting list for tickets. This was a major point, that he is not sure that the seats would sell. He suggested adding above the end zones.

What I meant was updating the current set up. Make more seats, by taking out the bleachers and making them individual seat. Where now there are 25 "seats" to a row of bleachers, you'd only have 20 real seats. So you're taking out seats. You can add more luxury boxes - maybe above each section? You create demand by reducing the supply.
