Mars, the problem for BYU is not that its the most overall attractive girl in the conference, its that she sits around and starts thinking obsessively about it.
I'm pretty sure that BYU doesn't dwell on the fact that they are awesome. Acknowledging something, and acting accordingly are different then being stuck up or egotistical.

Further, the minute she starts making conclusions with attribution or causation as much based on context and timing as actual attractiveness
Are you trying to say something here? Something about hubris? Less is more, my friend.

I just hope this time BYU administration doesn't assume they have the leverage to do whatever they feel expedient because they are HOT
They do have that leverage, and they should feel that way. They have earned it.
The MWC and the MTN are better than the football version of the WAC. As demonstrated by Boise coming to the MWC with or without Utah and BYU. If BYU were still in the WAC, we would be cleaning up still, like BSU currently is - with one caveat. That is, that we wouldn't be as good of a football team as BSU. That's right, I said it. I didn't say that we are
currently not as good, but that we would be in trouble still, recruiting in the WAC. BSU recruits well, because they have HORRIFIC academics, and easy standards, classes, etc. Can you imagine a school as strict as BYU recruiting in a terrible conferences, with high standards, and you have to be a straight B- student or better to play? What a nightmare! So to answer your series of questions, BYU was excited to get away from the bottom feeder WAC, A crappy MTN deal is better than no tv deal at all, and I am sure that there were some things said to BYU that haven't come through. BYU is tired of it, and is moving up. The MWC is a better conference than the WAC in sports that matter (Fball, Bball) but they are nowhere close to qualifying for an AQ bid. Even with Utah, they don't qualify in all areas. So the best shot they (and for the meantime we) have at an AQ bid is to be better than other conferences, and then in 2012 (election year, anyone?) the attorney general's will sue that the BCS is a monopoly system, and after 1 and a half million years and 7 different court rulings, we may or may not have a shot. Which by that time, the BCS will have figured out a way to become some other organization, with a changed name, and the same function. So I don't blame BYU for not wanting to put every egg in that basket. And as some other posters have pointed out, the conference only needs to have majority vote to imply rules (ie a 75% vote on all members having a $10 million buyout.) The MWC doesn't have BYU's interest in mind, and the tv deal most certainly doesn't, so it makes sense what they are doing, which is officially, exploring the options that they have earned for themselves.
