scott715It looks like CU is waiting until 2012 to move to the PAC to lower their penalty fee. Nebraska wants out ASAP so they are leaving in 2011. This makes the PAC and Big12 one short for a championship game. FSU and UN want to move in 2011 but the contract says 2012. Maybe they hope that moving early will destroy the league and avoid the fee (or they are discouraging BYU from the WAC and supposely that will negate the fee. Personnally there are still damages that they should pay). BYU will go independent and say they are joining the WAC to stick it to FSU and UN. However there could be a one year spot in a BCS conference for BYU. There is a chance that the MWC might be one short in 2011 and invite BYU as a guest while keeping their own tv deal.
Rumors are that the WAC is trying to get teams from Conf USA. However they are past the July 1 deadline and it would be more expensive to pay the penalty. That prevents Houston from joining for the AQ bid attempt. Where is it going to settle out?
Then the question is where do the WAC teams go in 2012. Do they survive? Do some go back Div 2? Or join another conferece. One less conference to share BCS money with.
