The Younger LBs are Making Plays!

I'm concerned about Stout. Obviously he's a true freshman who hasn't played a single down of college football yet, but he's found himself behind Hunter on the depth chart. I'm sure Hunter's a hard worker and is good at getting the defense in the right positions, but even Bronco has wondered if he is making enough plays. Hopefully, Stout will pick his game up as the season moves on.

*It's pretty clear that the LBs have two huge playmakers: Van Noy and Frazier. Jameson first came out of nowhere in spring, and he's only put on muscle weight since then. And to think, if Atkinson was healthy, neither of the two would be starters right now. Hell, Kyle still isn't a starter...



*It's the two older guys with the INTs though, in Hunter and Ogletree. Only two interceptions from the linebackers in all of fall camp? Let's hope that theme quickly changes once the actual season starts. TFL numbers need to go up as well (let's hope our newspaper writers were merely too lazy to include that stat in their reports).



*The biggest disappointment is easy: Atkinson. He came in the starter, and now he can't even play due to nagging post-surgery issues. Hopefully the docs can help him resolve this before next season, his last in Blue & White.



*Pendleton, you'll notice, has just about NO stats. He hasn't really gone live all camp. We assume he'll be rockin' and ready come opening day, but it's a slightly uncomfortable thought that he just maybe might not be.



*Notice someone else's name missing right now? Zac Stout. Penciled in as a sure-fire starter, he's still with the twos, and doesn't have any gaudy stats to his name yet either. Good thing he's got a whole season to blow up. And the guy ahead of him is a senior. This allows Stout to soak-up the defensive scheme play-calling, which will allow him to be vocal and more cerebral in 2011.



*The real fun this year? Blitzing, baby, blitzing! Especially from KVN at that Weakside spot. Bring the Heat!



*Next year is going to be even better than this one in the middle of the D. Add a full season of game experience. Add potential-starter Uona Kaveinga. Add potential-starter Atkinson for his 5th year (hopefully). Bring Fua, Keoshian, Tautu, and Beck in fresh off of blue-shirts.

fua, fua, fua. That guy is going to be special. our defense is seriously going to be good in the next few years. so will our offense. the future is bright.
