QB Stats n junk, by Mars!

Aiight, here's my total Fall Camp QB stats (compiled by me from various websites and reports over the course of 16 days...):





QB Riley Nelson 55 series (18 vs. 1st D), 94/146 passing (64.4%), 1359 total yards, 5 interceptions, 3 fumbles, 16 times sacked, led team to 19 total TDs and 7 field goals attempts.



QB Jake Heaps 55 series (24 vs. 1st D), 109/178 passing (61.2%), 1177 passing yards, 4 interceptions, 8 times sacked, led team to 20 total TDs and 4 field goal attempts.





QB James Lark 12 series (4 vs. 2nd D), 18/26 passing (69.2%), 222 total yards, 1 time sacked, led team to 4 total TDs and 2 field goal attempts.



QB Jason Munns 9 series (4 vs. 3rd D), 14/23 passing (60.9%), 124 passing yards, 8 times sacked, led team to 1 field goal attempt.

Most-Least Experienced against the 1st string D: Jake Heaps/Riley Nelson/James Lark/Jason Munns

Best-Worst Scorer: Riley Nelson/Jake Heaps/James Lark/Jason Munns

Best-Worst Yardage: Riley Nelson/Jake Heaps/James Lark/Jason Munns

Best-Worst Passer: Jake Heaps/Riley Nelson/Jason Munns/James Lark

Best-Worst Rusher: Riley Nelson/James Lark/Jake Heaps/Jason Munns

Best-Worst Interceptions: James Lark/Jason Munns/Jake Heaps/Riley Nelson

Non-statistical impressions:

Nelson is the best threat against a weak run D. Heaps is the best threat against a weak pass D.

Heaps is the best long-field QB. Nelson is the best redzone QB.

Nelson is the best 3rd-down-and-short bet. Heaps is the best 3rd-down-and-long bet.

Heaps is the best QB if we're losing. Nelson is the best QB if we're winning.

Thanks Mars for putting together all these numbers, that's a pretty monumental task.

I'm curious when Riley threw two more interceptions. The last report I saw had him at three and Heaps at four.

Those are the 11x11 scrimmage numbers, yes. I've included the 7x7 numbers as well.

7v7 stats shouldn't count. And shouldn't the best passer be the QB with the best "passer" rating?



Passer rating just 11v11 stats: Nelson: 153.00; Heaps: 136.38

Passer rating w/ Mars' stats: Nelson: 170.73; Heaps: 149.36



Mars didn't give a great breakdown to apply to the formula so I counted total TDs in the Passing TD portion of the formula and subtracted the amount of rushing yards I had for Riley from his passing yards.



The stats do not support the notion that Jake was the better passer.

You actually think passer rating equates to better passer? Kellen Moore is awesome in passer rating too, but no way is he a better passer than many other QBs because he can not make all the throws. Same with Riley. That's why it's an efficiency rating, not a pure passer rating. Riley was more efficient, and he should be with his experience, which is what Jake lacks. Jake is a better passer. Riley was more efficient. In time, Jake will probably be better at both.

It may not indicate a passer with a better arm, all the throws, etc. But it usually represents the QB who is a smarter passer who's better for the offense, and that's usually who you want on the field.

I actually went with who passed the most per series. For example, Lark is likely a better passer than Nelson, but whenever he got in the offense ran the ball. So that's how I labelled those statistically, not biased.

It's a reason, I guess. So you're "best" passer is actually the "most" passer.
