All they have to do is beat Virgina Tech in their first game and they will go undefeated and play in the NC game. The only other challenging game is against Oregon St at home.

Unbelievable. But it goes to prove that their formula has worked. Play Thursdays on ESPN against a completely cupcake schedule. It's not just an easy schedule - it may be one of the easiest in the country:

Virginia Tech

Wyoming

Oregon State

New Mexico State

Toledo

San Jose State

Louisiana Tech

Hawai'i

Idaho

Fresno State

Nevada

Utah State

We'll know very quickly if Boise is for real or not. It's similar to BYU. An argument could be made that based on our last few years' successes we should be ranked, but if we our early games we'll have earned our ranking.

If Boise beats VT, they'll have earned their ranking and should deserve a chance at the title if they can run the table. In all honsety, Boise's schedule isn't any more difficult or easier than Texas'.

Texas' schedule includes Baylor, Iowa St, Kansas St, Florida Atlantic, Wyoming and Rice.

Uuh, you left out OK State, Oklahoma, UCLA, Nebraska and Texas A&M. I realize many of the BCS schools have easy schedules (i.e. Notre Dame) but no one is close to BSU - and they are going into the season ranked 3rd. I don't think anyone has had an easier path to the NC game.

Oklahoma = Virginia Tech

Nebraska = Oregon St

UCLA or Texas A&M are slightly better than Nevada. So there really is only about one team that Boise doesn't really have a correlation for.

Are you serious? Oklahoma = Virginia Tech and Texas A&M is on slightly better then Nevada?

Ok, whatever. :bug:

And you left out Oklahoma State.

If you base it off of last year then Oklahoma < Virginia Tech in my opinion.

Good. Let's hope they do. And let's hope they play Ohio State, and a 1 loss team from the SEC gets left out, like Bama or Florida. i want to hear the SEC fans whine. Just gets us one step closer to BCS Armageddon and that 16-team playoff we all want.

Ok...I'm can buy into this. But not sure if I want to hear BSU fans touting a NC without working their way through a real playoff or at least a bit more difficult schedule.

By the way, BYU's NC was completely legit. 8)

I'm not sure this is as unfair in BSU's favor as the above seems to portray. BSU's "plan" would only work this year because they are starting ranked so high. They have had other unbeaten seasons against better schedules and no shot at NC. Why are they ranked so high to begin with? 1) multiple unbeaten seasons to earn long-term respect, and 2) returning practically everyone.

Put it another way. To what degree was our 1984 NC earned by Jim McMahon and Steve Young? If the 1984 season were played in a vacuum, there's no way we would have won an NC.

Put it another way. Florida may be able to win a NC with a 10-2 record, but if Boise State wins this year, it will have to have posted a 39-1 record to get there, and that ain't easy to do, even against lousy competition. Same goes for TCU: if they win out, they will be 36-3 against much better competition. Why not them?

btw, because of past years, an unbeaten BYU or Utah also has a much better chance at an NC this year than year's past, but not as good as BSU and TCU.

I agree. If BSu goes undefeated this season, they deserve to be in the BCS title game. And I have to choke back the bile to say that. 39-1 over 3 seasons with wins over TCU, Oregon, Oregon St, Va Tech, and whoever the other team is in the BCS title game is resume enough and exactly what Bronco has said would be necessary for BYU or any non-AQ would have to do to get into the title game.

What would be nice is a rematch of TCU and BSU in the title game with TCU winning. How could the MWC be denied since it would be the only conference to have two teams play in the title game at the same time, regardless of what the dregs of the MWC do.

Hence the reason I said there was only one team that Boise didn't have a correlation for. That team is Okie St.

I wonder if Boise has already reached its ranking ceiling though. I really wonder if they'll stay at #3 all year and never move into the top 2. I can't see BCS coaches allowing Boise to get anywhere close to the NC game and the easiest way to do that is keep them at #3. That way you can claim how much respect you have for Boise by saying look how high you've ranked them, while still keeping them from playing for it all.

Sorry to say it but I don't for a second believe that BSU will play in the NC game unless every other BCS team save one has two losses or more. I don't believe it will happen. And two undefeated of the following TX, Oh St., Ala., Fla., OK, Neb.,Pac-0 chump, WV, Penn St., Wisc, or ACC chump, will prevent BSU from playing in the game. Several of the "name" schools would probably be in there before them too. Not all would jump them but come the end of the season one of them would if needed to force them to #3 in the BCS.

Don't forget that the BCS use the "BCS Standings" to determine the top two and a one loss TX etc can easily overtake BSU simply on a SOS arguement. How can we be ahead of the BigLeast in conf. ranking through the "preseason" games and then end a distant seventh after the conference games? Those games should be a zero sum gain for the conference but instead they pull way away. Why? Because that is how the system is fixed. And that is why the MWC will never get AQ w/o some kind of intervention. A win by WV over UConn or Rutgers (or any other BE team) is worth more in BCS pts. than a BYU win over AF.

I just don't see them including a non-AQ in the final game. Mostly because it puts the lie to the whole BCS system. Until I see it, I will never believe that the BCS will include BSU or any other non-BCS team in the NC game.
