Adding Fresno and Nevada were meant to prevent BYU from leaving to the WAC. I can't see how they provide any reason for BYU to stay in the MWC.

And lets not forget that financial CONCESSIONS were given to Fresno--whether they are not paying for membership or given cold hard cash, apparently there is some other piue somewhere that is funding that. Thompson is writing checks that equate to more irrrelevance.

No, Thompson was writing checks to save his job and the MWC from a mass exodus to the WAC. It worked, but at what cost? Time will tell, but if BYU leaves because the other uni Presidents are stubborn, they will get hit where it hurts most--the Athletic Department pocket book.

BYU started this whole tumult by suggesting independence. They need to finish it by going independent. Returning to the MWC, in my opinion, would be their worst option, and gain them nothing. And as the Trib says, the MWC now has more mouths to feed and BYU would get less revenue than they do now.



I'm also thinking BYU will wait until the last day to announce its decision, in part to eliminate the possibility of the MWC and WAC dancing around, witching partners and trying to get even with BYU. Just do it, go indy, it's the obvious, smart move.

The fact that BYU has reached out again to the WCC strongly hints of folding other teams into this conference. Adding more mouths to feed provides additional reason to go independent in order to garner more TV money. Key challenge is whether ESPN will provide support in helping schedule worthy opponents for which to televise games.

That's a wild one there. I am hearing the CU will stay another year in the Big12-1. Maybe we could go there for a year to make it 12.

Won't happen. Hair heard about that and invited Texas, Oklahoma, A&M and Tech just to screw over BYU again.



Pretty soon everybody will be in the MWC.
