jonnylingoIf BYU goes independent and gets their own tv station up and going as long as an agreement with espn, does texas eventually follow suit? And after that do others?
It is intriguing to think of what the potential of going indy could mean. There are major risks which have kept me off board but the more i think of it the more it makes sense.
What is a new group of indies arise that play each other each year in november. nd, texas, byu...etc.
If byu manages to pull off keeping all other sports in mwc and then going indy in football I am all for it while I would not be disappointed either with staying the mwc if they give us some tv rights concessions.
the more this goes by the more i realize espn has our back and that is a powerful thing. It is also encouraging that we are buidling a relationship with texas which i imagine espn had some part in doing. i imagine there is a lot that we don't know about that holmoe and samuelson do. i am getting the impression that they really do want to go indy and their first choice a this point is probably mwc for the rest and indy for football.
whether that is possible i dont know. It depends on a lot of thigns but mainly the mtn tv contract i would imagine.
if that happens i bet houston is added. rumor is its houston or usu. i wonder if byu tries to get usu in despite the fact that it is not in our interest in my opinion.
i jsut want to know how much pull we have with tv sets. its all comes down to that i think. if we have as much as we are always boasting we have i see this whole thing turning out well for us.
byu MUST get out of the mwc's rotten tv deal. its is killing us. letting espn show more of our games will mak eit easeire for us to play good teams and help us more then we are helped by being in the mwc. i think i am being persuaded that indy is the best route if you can do it without destroying the rest of hte sports.
