Am I missing something?

I fail to see why everyone is freaking out about the Nevada and FSU invites. Worst case scenario, we stay, and if the MWC honors the invites, we have a stronger conference, and possibly boot a few of the O-fers at the bottom of the conference. We don't need Nevada or FSU for any other sport other than football, and we are going independent in that. Any other sport worth following has a playoff, and strength of schedule doesn't matter all that much. So again, am I missing something? I can't see how this is a bad thing at all, or how it changes any plans that we may or may not have had.



This reminds me of me as a youth, right before 5th period using the last minutes of my lunch to write that 10 page report due at the beginning of class. If the MWC invites Boise, Nevada, Fresno St, and Navy, and boots a few of the bottom dwellers 6th months ago maybe Utah doesn't jump ship and they don't have this problem.

One thing you and others always miss is that the MWC cannot boot members...it is in the BYLAWS of the conference...if so some would want to boot BYU right now for all the headaches that are happening in WAC and MWC schools offices. You cannot kick out a member of the conference for any reason. Members can leave of their own free will upon giving notification.

Ah, great point! What about the rest of my post though? Really, am I missing some other vital piece of info that the invites are a big deal?

I don't think there is too much else to it. The biggest factor is that BYU has done nothing officially...and just like it is rumored with BSU...FSU and UNR may have the option to "take back" on their acceptance which they might if BSU rescinds their acceptance and are back in the WAC with BYU coming into the WAC...still think we are in for few crazy weeks until Sep. 1st.

...I partly wish there was a clause to boot members if they don't achieve a certain performance level...this would have made the numbers match up perfectly for BCS purposes.

Yeah, it's weird we didn't think of including that, coming from the WAC. That should have been the first thing on our list...

did you see the tweet ticker to the side with the sltrib reporting the WCC conference wants BYU in all sports? We could probably make our other sports work in a few different spots. We don't need the WAC or MWC and I wouldn't mind the cougs playing Gonzaga in hoops every year and being on the California coast. I hope BYU goes indy and stays indy.
