Wed Scrimmage Analysis

Although there was not much downfield throwing, the stats (if they mean anything in a controlled scrimmage with a focus on evaluating our RBs and younger players ) indicate that Riley Nelson is picking up steam in asserting himself as the starting QB while Richard Wilson is coming on strong at TE.



"Junior Riley Nelson was 10 of 14 for 90 yards and is getting better at consistently picking up first downs. Heaps was 6 of 10 for 45 yards and the one touchdown. Wilson, who has played well of late, caught two passes for 34 yards and a score."



It appears even more likely that both Nelson and Heaps will share time on the field with Riley being used to keep the defense honest with his ability to scramble and pass (short throws) while Heaps will be used to stretch the field.

Anyone have any sense or stats of qb series against 1's, 2's or 3's?

Who cares about the scrimmage with the MWC and WAC on the verge of exploding.

Apparently Bronco is more concerned about evaluating the team rather than the Independence announcement.

Great quote - regardless of what happened today, he is focused on putting the best quality product on the field so that we can capitalize on making the Y highly visible, one that will generate a huge following, and bring us an NC.

How could Bronco say that?! Everyone should obviously be more worried about the 2011 and conference realignment, to the point where we can't even divert our attention to what actually matters for this year. Should we start a Fire Bronco campain? :roll:

NO WAY

The most improtant quote of the day was one I read somewherre that said Bronco was not very impressed with the team today. That is what the team needs to be focused on. The rest of this is a huge distractoin at just the wrong time - young team trying to get ready for a very good UW team.



BYU will be fine in the MWC, WAC, or as an INdependent until a more equitable playofff situation comes about. BYU needs to - Just Win baby - and let the rest work itself out.
