Ryker Mathews to BYU!!

Ryker just posted on his facebook that he committed to BYU last night!!

What an awesome day in BYU history. It takes a lot of news for something like a commitment from the best lineman in the last 5 years in Utah to go unnoticed.



I'm so stoked for Ryker and BYU.

That's FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!!!

Our O-Line is going to be incredible for years to come. What QB, RB wouldn't want to come to the Y knowing he has got great pass protection and beef on the hoof to open up holes and pave the way to the zone. This is going to reverberate well with all potential recruits.

I love that I beat TBS and rumorboard on this. Shows that a little love on facebook can go a long way.

Why this is so sweet is because ryker was the poster boy for whever he goes will tell us if utah to the pac10 will have an impact on recruiting. well i guess we have our answer. I thought his family were utah fans. this is quite a coupe.

His mother was BYU all the way, and it seems his siblings were too. His dad is deceased and I believe he was a Ute fan.



From what I hear about the BYU and Nike camps, Ryker is as good as any lineman to consider BYU in a decade.



It's a great week to be a Cougar!!





Ultimately, i think it's going to come down to the relationships he had with players on the BYU team and the fact that he wanted the recruiting over.



( At least he's not one of the spazzes from Kahuku that just wanted a couple free trips to be wined and dined. )

That is quite the statement considering we have a guy named Matt Reynolds on the team. Agreed that it is a great week to be a Cougar.

I know the guy who is the trainer for the football team at AF high school. Says Ryker is a great kid, and is getting REALLY strong. Ryker goes to his house to do strong man type workouts, and gets really competitive with my buddy, who is a national champ in his weight class. Ryker is huge and has really low body fat for such a big kid. When he adds some pounds, he is going to be a beast. And wow, have you seen the size of hte O-lineman we recruited this year, along with the 2 RM's we have? All 6'6" or bigger. that is massive.

6'7" 285 lb Brad Wilcox, impressed a lot of people in the spring; left the MTC a few weeks ago



6'8" 275 lb Bronson Kaufusi, possibly the best athlete in the history of BYU athletics, but made his name on the d-line in high school. (he has the potential to be our Jonothan Ogden, Anthony Munoz)



I give the nod to Mathews over Matt Reynolds as the biggest o-line recruit this decade.

Ive walked next to Bronson--no way hes 275. His Dad might not even be 275. Athletic? Absolutely. Best athlete in BYU history? :-) Must indeed be a great day for Cougs.

Now you got it straight from his mouth. This story keeps getting better. He is no more committed to BYU then Utah. He is slightly leaning toward Utah from what he said on fox news a couple of weeks ago, on the annual Utah High School football preview.

Who? Any recruit that likes the comforts of women, diet coke, and a good party (99% of young men in other words!). BYU's honor code will turn off a lot of non-highly religious prospects.

He committed to Bronco last night and posted it on his facebook account today; then his relatives replied to congratulate him.



I sent him a message to congratulate him too.



It's official - not only is it official but he plans on graduating early so he can be in spring camp next year.



(btw - My troll tolerance starts to creep across the line when a Ute fan uses BYU in their name and calls out longtimers that have never posted bad info. I dont' post rumors; ask Manti Teo... if you're going to trash talk, make sure that you're not wrong and wayyy off the reservation)

You can have women , diet coke and parties at BYU; just not the kind that 0-10 Washington players like to have. BYU has no problem recruiting quarterbacks or linemen.
