Langi Likes Stanford

Dang! On Scout.com, Harvey Langi (RB from Bingham HS), lists Stanford as "High" interest. BYU is listed as "Med."



The only positive note is Colorado & Wyoming are both listed as "Low." Doesn't make me feel good. Sure would love to "get" Harvey!!!!! A real talent.

It sure would be nice to get him but he is not even close to a make or break kid for this class even though he would be a perfect fit for the Cougar offense. We have much greater needs at other positions and much bigger fish to fry. If he came, he and Juice would be a lethal combo but we still have Juice and they'd only be separated by a year, not to mention we have Hines coming home soon and plenty of other talented backs.

Guys like Brandon Bourbon had Stanford at the top of their list too; til they didn't qualify for admission there.



Langi would be making a mistake. Harbaugh will get out as soon as the NFL or Michigan come calling.

I met a lady who's daughter dates Langi. It didn't sound like he was having strong leanings in any direction. She said he is having a terrible time trying to decide where to go. Her husband is a big Y fan. Here's hoping he has influence. She and her daughter are waiting to see what he chooses to decide their allegiance. She sounded like BYU and :utard: are both around the top of the list.

Sad it once, will say it again. I hope Harvey comes, but with Adam Hine retuning from a mission for next year, I think he and Q will have teh RB spot covered really well for many years to come. I see more of a need to a FB than a RB, in all honesty. And a need for Joe Sampson over Langi. Hope we get both, but if just 1, I vote Sampson due to the position he plays.

I wonder why BYU recruited Jake Heaps and Riley Nelson at QB, after we already landed two 4-star quarterbacks in James Lark and Jason Munns before then?

Because the name of the game in college football is recruiting. You need to stockpile talent. You don't know who will and won't pan out. You don't know who will and won't get hurt. Any time you can stockpile talent, you do it.

+1. Absolutely. Even the most highly rated - injuries, get into trouble, aren't as talented as touted, lack of effort, etc.



Look @ the most recent NFL disaster Jamarcus Russel. NFL monster size, canon for an arm. Highest paid NFL Rookie ever (at the time.) He's gone & out of the NFL.
