TCU "major announcement" on Monday 2:30pm

Rumorboard thinks it has to do with a stadium re-design that will actually reduce the number of seats from 44k to 41k.



What else could it be? Certainly not a conference realignment topic. (right!? :~( )

Frog fans on the MWC board are saying it's about the stadium.

Reducing the number of overall seats will help TCU reach that ever elusive "50% Full" mark.

Blah, Blah, Blah. When BYU goes independent, its not going to matter.

so can someone fill me in on this? Why would TCU want to reduce the seating capacity of their stadium?

I'm just guessing that it is like what BYU did a few years ago with the Legacy Seating. It reduced the overall capacity but those chairs are a lot nicer and roomier. Just my guess.

And provide BYU with more revenue, since there are more financial strings attached to paying for the new seats, or boxes, or whatever they build.

They want to reduce the number of seats on the visitor side so when BYU plays them they won't out number the TCU fans. Only problem is they don't fill thier side so the BYU fans will just end up behind their bench (TIC). :crazy: ;)

Sooooooo, does TCU also have a "major" announcement to go along with their plans to rearrange some some chairs at their stadium?

Hopefully they are going to throw down on Texas for lying about how the failed negotiations for a home-and-home went down.

Amon Carter is an old stadium in dire need of an upgrade. I suspect that they will add chairs with backs, redo the press box to add more luxury suites, etc. Fort Worth has a ton of $$$, and Texas loves a winner, so I suspect TCU has finally got the funds to update that stadium.

Yup, $105 million upgrade to their old stadium. New press box and suites.

Looks nice. First renovation in over 50 years, so it is needed. Said can expand to over 50,000 in future, if needed. Which it won't be, unless UT comes to town every other year.
