Heaps versus Wynn

I hate to say it but I think Heaps will be a better quarterback in his freshman year then Jordan Wynn will be in his sophmore year. I think both are great quarterbacks. Are run defense won't be very good from what I have seen and heard about so far in spring practice. The rest of our squad should be solid. I think BYU should have a pretty decent year.

And you "hate" to say it?

Isn't that how "trolls" start their posts? :sulk:

You should have seen his first post a week or so ago. (since edited)

Don't feed the trolls, BYU31 is obviously a ute bum who can't just admit that he's a ute.

With respect, I don't think there is any point whatsoever in discussing this topic.

1. we don't know who our QB is yet

2. we don't really care about utah right now

3. we wouldn't waste anytime discussing how much better Jake is than Austin Carta Samuels or how much better or worse Quezada is than Eddie Wide either.

Mark my words. Wynn is going to be the second coming of Tommy Grady (which also makes him the 3rd coming of Uncle Rico). Great promise early on but he'll plateau early this season and the utes will revel finishing 3rd or 4th in the conference this year.

I think there is some validity to this comparison. Great physical tools but a real rough fit for the system. Hard to run the spread with a QB that can't run.

Hey, guys, I'm with byu31. I hate to think that a BYU QB might be better than a Utah QB too! Oh, wait, no I don't. In fact, I don't think it's anything I've ever not considered. I'm trying to think back to any point in time to where I thought the Utah QB was better than BYU's. I can't think of one Utah QB ever who was better than the BYU QB at the time.

Utah doesn't run the Urban Meyer/Dan Mullin spread anymore. Even in 2008 Brian Johnson wasn't used as a real running threat.

And Jordan Wynn is no Tommy Grady. Jordan Wynn's QB rating last year was nearly as good as Max Hall's in 2007, his first year as a starter.

Jordan Wynn fits Utah's system just fine.

Statistically or in your world?

I dunno, Rice and Engemann/Berry could be a toss-up.

You keep telling yourself that. Just like Ute fans tell themselves religion has nothing to do with the fact that the Pac 10 took Utah instead of BYU. Then again, maybe having a medical school and no official LDS ties is enough to take the lesser program.

What are we talking about here? QBs or PAC12?

OK.

If you say 'I'm a BYU fan and I wouldn't trade any of our QBs for one of Utah's' I understand that.

If you think John Beck and his 128 QB rating is better than Alex Smith and his 176 QB rating you're smoking crack.

I'll go with Kitic's response: "Both"

Actually, I'm just messing around with you. Mostly just wishful thinking, I suppose. :)

The funny thing is I was looking at Utah's QB stats the other day and didn't realize how close Terrence Cain was to Jordan Wynn statistically.

However, although Cain won games, watching Utah's offense with Cain last year was a snooze fest.

I stand corrected. I'll trade the 2004 Alex Smith for the 2004 John Beck. But I'd take the 2006 John Beck over the 2004 Alex Smith.

John Beck looked terrible with the Redskins last week, but his passer rating was still better than Alex Smith's with my Niners. Freakin' 9 rating. With the first-string offense. He's garbage.

Embarrasing for sure.
