Air Force

I'm not looking ahead but just watching the AF preview and it's been mostly about BYU and their short DBs.

In a fleeting thought Rembrant (sp?) mentioned that they've got BYU this year, and said TCU is the one we have to focus on. He's half right & half wrong.



BYU is +56 against AF-including having our backups in for 09 & 07, 08 was competitive.

Utah is +6 against them in the past 3 years, and TCU is +43(according to themtn), but AF is 1-2 (close losses) against them both. Why is BYU so much better? Because we were senior loaded? Okay, pull the 2006-2007 card and "expect to beat BYU" but remember 07. Because I predict BYU is going to come in and repeat.



BYU owns AF, at least Calhoun just admitted that, but he mentioned they've got BYU "figured out" this year. I know we lost all of our performers, but what bigger/faster/stronger players did they get? They are disciplined and fast. BYU is almost as disciplined, bigger, faster, stronger, and more athletic.

AF's rival is BYU, it's the 80s again. BYU just doesn't know that. AF can think and believe (good attitude) BYU is going to lose 4-6 games, but as for me, BYU beats AF...easily...again. Wins 10 games, & beats Utah. So AF, I respect you more than any other team in the conference, but it's not going to happen. Focus on Oklahoma & TCU.

First off, my biggest pet peeve on these boards is people who say, "Hey don't look ahead, we have to stay focused if want to win!" Guess what we don't have to take our cougarcorner comments "one game at a time" so I say bring up any game you wish. Your right though Air Force is rediculous. BYU beats Airforce because BYU has had really assignment sound LBs and DEs. That and the fact that our OL outweighs their OL by 400lbs each year (just a guess).

The reason that we play AFA so well is that we play assignment sound football, that what Bronco teaches. We don't depend on our athletes to do all the work to make huge plays on defense, we just prepare really, really well and know our assignments, which almost completely neutralizes the option.

Schmoe is right. AFA should almost always be a relatively easy win, almost without exception.



They are the only team where we have more talent at every position (except maybe kicker) almost every season. Their bread and butter is execution and assignment football. That is why they are able to keep it close vs. less disciplined teams like Utah and TCU, despite the fact they have far superior talent. BYU's bread and butter is execution. We execute almost as well as them and we are almost as disciplined. That, coupled with the superior talent is a recipe for domination. Based solely on the recent BYU recruiting success, we should not lose to them any time soon.

4-6 games to lose this year???? An you say we will beat AF so you say we lose to every decent team plus 1-2 we shouldn't lose???? Wow, you are a pessimist

Read much? Just kidding. He said "AFA can THINK BYU is going to lose 4-6 games...But I think we'll win 10" (or something along those lines.

for my prediction for this year, BYU has a shot to win every game this year, including TCU and FSU, but I believe we have a 10-2 season on our hands, and we finally kick the CRAP out of Yewtah to send them on their way

I have been very surprised at all of the people seeing this as a difficult win for us this year, given the fact that Bronco has always dominated them. Secretly i think Bronco worships them, he always has an uncharacteristic smile on his face when asked questions about them.



The only X factor is that it is so early in the season this year, hopefully our D will have gelled by then, and our QB will have decided by then.

AF needs to focus on the Oklahoma game and win against Utah which they have a good shot at doing. Our defense front seven will be challenged this time agains AF.

I live about 10 minutes from the Air Force Academy and so naturally all of the BYU fans here are anxious for the game on Sept 11. Just based on the conversations I have had with people in my ward there should be a pretty good showing of BYU faithful at the game. Most members in my ward, including myself, have family and friends coming in town for the game. I am expecting a home game type of atmosphere at the stadium and think that it should be a competitive game. I think it also helps that it will be played in September rather than November. Our passing game would be more affected by bad weather than Air Force's option game. In the end BYU will get the win once again.



Hopefully Bronco can get our boys ready and assignment sound early this year.
