Based upon the Twitter feeds, sounds like the young guys played a lot on D, and that the defense won the battles. No QBs had great days, but both had TD drives. To be honest, I like hearing that the defense won the first day of pads. I expect the O to step up next time in pads and deliver.

QB stats: Heaps: 2/7, 53 yards, int; 1 rush, 3 yds(1 TD Drive)... Nelson: 2/6, 19 yds, TD; 6 rushes, 27 yds(1 TD Drive)

Rushing stats: J.J. DiLuigi: 5 rushes, 13 yds; Bryan Kariya: 2 rushes, 21 yds; Mike Hague: 4 rushes, 24 yds. Josh Quezada had 1 running TD during a Heaps drive from 5 yds.

My favorite read out of today's practice was about hague. apparently he sent to defensive players to the sideline by lowering his shoulder into them. Love hearing that. Makes me think of Tonga.

Wrubell says that sooto was sidelined today. wonder why that was.

Bryan Kariya: 2 rushes, 21 yds; But he's too slow to run for 10+ a carry!! I could see him getting 1 or maybe even 2 yards, but this can't be right!! Kariya is so WHITE and SLOW and not good at all, he will fall to the bottom of the depth chart or will only be used as a blocking back because he's so SLOW and UNATHLETIC and terrible compared to our other awesometacular backs!

That right there is enough sarcasm to last the board until September 4th

Ok, now I know you're lying. Kariya has never run 15 yards in his life, he's so out of shape that he runs out of gas after 5...

Oh, a sarcasm detector, now there's a REALLY useful invention!

The kicker Payne hit a 50 yard FG and then later hurt his ankle and looks to be out, for how long we don't know. Bronco was not happy with the Freshman Jordan Johnson.

we start playing with pads and the first person who gets hurt is the kicker?

I read that it was two 49 yarders, not bad, but too bad...

A kicker with a sprained ankle? that is NOT an injury, get up and kick the ball, it's just one step and one swing of the leg, so what if you have a sprained ankle; it's not like the kicker is a running back or receiver.

Truly, this is kind of funny, and a great big non-issue. If Payne is not back kicking tomorrow, I'll be shocked and disappointed in him.

Thank goodness kickers don't actually kick the ball with their feet!

Sounds like it is not too bad. He should be back for the game. Stephenson does the kickoffs, right?

And if it's on his plant foot, that won't affect him in the least either. Sorry, bball, a kicker with a sprained ankle could be a very serious injury. Maybe John Beck should have played against Utah St in 2006. He's not out there running routes and making cuts. He's just throwing the ball with his arm, right?

and it wasn't like his older brother (a kicker) was the best player on the team a couple of years back! I still love watching the hits he would put on the return guys!
