Actually that is the rule, the question is how they measure it. We are top 6 in 2 out of 3 criteria. It is that last one that is holding us up.

Exactly. What I mean is, right now the ACC is 8th in one and 7th in another, so there's no way they could even petition in, like we have to. But the fact that the ACC is that bad does not mean we don't have to petition. It does help our case, though.

And the last one is the most rediculous. It's not like the all-conference teams play each other in these bowl games, it is the conference champion. If the conference champion is better than the other conference champions, AQ status should not be denied because teams 8 and 9 can't beat teams 8 and 9 from another conference.

You mean like Wyoming beating Tennessee in Knoxville, for example? Or UNLV beating ASU[url] and [url=http://espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=282642439]Iowa State in consecutive weeks? The ONLY reason our bottom dwellers are ranked lower than their bottom dwellers is that ours schedule up for OOC games, and theirs schedule down (isn't it weird how teams like Kentucky, Baylor, and Vandy start off looking like they could be bowl eligible, and then implode for some reason? Hint - it's the OOC schedule). Actually, their whole conference will schedule down (though there are notable exceptions like Washington, who I applaud for continually scheduling good opponents even in bad times). When it actually is our 8/9 against their 8/9, we win just as often as they do. That second criteria is pure excrement and included only as a means of keeping us out.

The problem is that once they start the conference schedule they will distance themselves from the MWC based soley on the fact that they are already a BCS conf and deserve higher marks for difficult of schedule. A catch22 that will bite us every year and will serve to keep us out permanently. A nice little thing to keep the haves and have nots seperate. I personally don't think the BCS will ever accept another conference and will pressure the current ones to maybe include a few of the have not's that may be deemed worthy as a way to end all discussion. It sickens me to think of BYU being in the BCS, but at the same time better in than out since there is nothing to do about it and it hurts us while we are not part of it.
