I REPENT

Please forgive me for I have sinned a grievious sin. I actually rooted for :utard: in OOC games thinking it would help BYU and the MWC. I was wrong. I vow never, ever to commit such a sin again, near unpardonable.



Not even if :utard:s winning would mean BYU gets into the BCS title game will I ever root for them again.

I didn't realized it until now but thanks to you I've seen the light. Utah's leaving the conference has solved one of my all time great dilemmas: "should I root for utah to in ooc games since it reflects well on the conference and thus byu if they win?" Problem solved! They're no longer in the conference! This frees my soul to love byu with a purer love and hate utah with a purer hate! My chi is balanced, my yin is no longer mixed with my yang, and the planets have restored their correct and regular orbits, and my heart rate has dropped by about 5 beats/min.

Since we are confessing sins, let me say that I truly feel remorse for ignorantly saying that Rick Majerus had class. I had read a quote from Majerus about Shawn Bradley in Bradley's biography (I was very young at the time).



My dad quickly corrected me. Thank goodness for the correction of a loving father.



Since that time I have not repeated my sin and learned how right my father was.

I don't follow the Utes or read about them, but they're in state and they reflect good on us by proximity and relation when they do well---let Utah be known as a great football state. Maybe I just don't spend enough time of my day following the Utes to hate them like some of you...

All the ute-cheering fans here are lucky that we moved here from cougarblue. I have (or had?) a thread bookmarked there about cheering for the U wherein many users called me and others out that refused to cheer for them.



You were all wrong and I hope you feel stupid. Your brother in arms has repented, now it's time for the rest of you to follow his lead.



And, for the record, I know that there is almost no causation between some fan cheering for or against a team and that team's success (other than donating to the program and making noise and supporting a team live at the game, of course).



(Some of this is TIC, obviously. Though I do hope you do feel stUpid. :)

They are our main recruiting rival. I hope they lose every game by a hundred! Any "fan" that has sympathies towards Utah (ie cheering for, hoping they do well) doesn't get rivalries. I've mentioned this before, but would any self respecting Yankee fan cheer for the Red Sox, so at least someone from the AL will take it this year? Or vice versa?



Let me put it this way... If it were the Utes vs. Satan's Legion, I wouldn't know who I wanted to win. I guess I'd hope for a tie.

Most teams hesitate to play themselves, so you'll never have to worry making that decision.

You guys give Utah way too much credit with these comments. Seriously, would you say the same about Arizona, Washington State or Oregon State? Because that is the level Utah is at. Personally, I could care less about what Utah does until they line up against BYU. Then I want to crush them. But until then, who cares. Matters 0 to our success.

I wouldn't cheer for Utah if they were playing Satan.



I can understand the principle of hoping Utah wins to strengthen our schedule when we beat them but I for one could never bring myself to do it. Perfect example was the Sugar Bowl. During the weeks before I said to myself "It'll be good for the conference, it'll be good for the conference, it'll be bad for the BCS, it'll be good for the conference." And then I sat down to watch the game and I saw the red jerseys, I saw Whit, I saw their receiver who said he would win the Heisman and I magically, in an instant, knew that no matter how good it was for the conference I could never cheer for Utah.



It's like on The Office when Karen is poaching Stanley away from Scranton. Michael calls up Karen and suggests that she take Toby. "Toby is great. He's nice, he's funny, he's...blaaaaah...I can't do it...Toby is the worst."



And yes they are our main recruiting rival and as such Cougar Nation should hope for an 0-12 season every single year for Utah.



Utah is great. They've got a good program, they're classy, they're....BLAAAAAAHHH...I can't do it!! Utah is the WORST!!

What kind of offense does Satan's Legion have, do you think? I think I see the evil one employing the triple option, just for the chop block aspect of it.

...Wait a minute. Orangebloods.com is reporting that Larry Scott has just invited Satan's Legion to join the PAC-12, along with the Spanish Inquisition, the Golden Horde, and the Third Reich. And since it's no secret the home field refs (all 7 of them) will be in the tank for Satan, he's making it official, and rolling out a brand new defense...

The hatred is simply a matter of DNA. some of us are born with the "hate Puke" DNA and can't do anything about it. . . not that I've tried to alter my feelings - that would be stupid. I, personally, am comfortable with my hate DNA, just as I am with drinking Diet Coke.

There are certain games where you just root for injuries...

Will USC fans stick around if Kiffin continues to act like a spoiled jackass and has seasons like USC had in the 80s and 90s??
