Phillips is in!!

Seriously, what the #$%% is wrong with the NCCA! They sure were able to get their denial of kaveinga down to us but have their heads up their butts to far to clear phillips to play. he is getting seriously behind. They are going to be in full pads by the time he gets going which means he will essentially be two weeks behind.



I feel really bad for the kids. What the crap is going on! NCAA, get your heads out! I hate you.

Not only that but team policy states that you must have 4 practices without full pads no matter what. So even when he gets cleared he still has to wait 4 days. (Depending on when he is finally cleared)

From Cougar Tracks:
All players must go through two practices in helmets only, then two practices in shells, before being allowed to put on full pads in practice #5. So, for the first week or so, a handful of players (like Atkinson, Phillips, etc.) will be a few workouts behind their teammates and held out of certain segments of practice (those that require hitting, primarily) as a result.

yeah, Phillips is losing opportunities to get involved in the offense. If he doesn't get into camp soon, his only chance to contribute might be in the return game.



I think he'll shine there, but missing this many sessions can hurt his chances of getting the offensive timing down.

I guess graduating early is rearing it's pretty little head in moments like these. I never fully realized what an advantage these tweeners have.

Fun to watch that video again. Can you imagine a four receiver set with Jacobsen, Phillips in the slots and chambers and apo wide? Defense will have to pick their pain, BC with our scheme, somebody is going to be wide open and still running.

Does BYU or have they ever ran a double H(slot) set before?

I think I've seen us in a single back set, with two out wide, one in tight and one in the slot, and then moved the back out into the slot before the snap before. I'm pretty sure I've seen two wide, two slot, single back from us before, too.

From that quote, maybe if they run two tights ends, and the second tight end is just a big H, if you squint just right you could consider both tight ends to be H's...

Phillips has been cleared. Will be practicing today and him and aj moore before practice will be running the y because he missed that and was really looking forward to winning that race.



Damn the NCAA!



Phillips' brother is a regular on cougarboard. this is all per his comments.

My understanding is it is an NCAA rule to acclimate players. two days in helmets, two days helment and shoulderpads.
