Liking the sacs from the DE's. If Bryson was able to put on some weight this summer he could be a monster at DE this year with his speed

I wonder who the batted down balls were against. Two of them are by DL, so likely at the LOS.

Just read that it was heaps who hit mcckay for the 44 yard touchdown. also it looks like jj was kicking butt today. also it appears phillips wasn't cleared to practice yet. hopes thats nothing.

Someone please tell me that we will have a relevant dline this year...please!!!! Our pass rush has been anemic for 4 years now and it keeps me on the edge of my seat anytime a good Q drops back to pass because I know he'll have all day unless we send extras.

I doubt it.

Putnam is having academic issues right now.

So'oto always has injury issues.

Eathyn Manumaleuna is being moved to DE as an extra run-stopper, but he is currently a very poor pass rusher.

Tayo Fabuluje isn't in great college shape yet and will likely blue-shirt this year.

Thomas Bryson has been a pleasant surprise as a pass-rushing DE, and Vic could have a great year if he plays healthy. I'm also hoping to see Graham Rowley make an impact as a true freshmen. And who knows, Ghanan track star Ezekiel Ansah may get in and make a big play late in the season as well.

The pass-rushing duties this year seem to fall squarely on the Linebackers, which I think will be more aggressive than they've been in years. Van Noy and others have done well so far in that capacity. I would guess as of today that Van Noy blue-shirts this year as well though.

No way does Van Noy blue shirt this year. He is either #1 or #2 on the depth chart for that position, so he plays this year--a lot. And if Jordan Atkinson has to blue shirt, as Bronco has stated he thinks will happen this year, due to slow recovery from shoulder surgery, Van Noy starts. No way anyone on the 2-deep blue shirts.

No way Van Noy starts. He's been as high as 4th on the depth chart, but as low as 6th-string. And he was here in Spring. The guy has already been passed over by Fua and Keoshian, and has been playing behind one of the Mendenhall walk-ons. No idea why, but at least that's how it looks to me right now.

My thoughts after 3 days:

DiLuigi has 11 combined runs/catches for 134 yards so far in camp.

Kariya and Quezada surprisingly have combined for just 5 runs/catches for 18 yards.

As a side note, we seem to be using the RBs much more as receivers than runners right now. Maybe that's to help develop the QBs.

Jacobsen is dominant as a WR right now, coming from the "H" or slot position. 7 catches for 107 yards so far.

Chambers, who is expected to have a huge year, is starting slow. 2 catches for 15 yards, but dropped a perfect pass from Heaps, dropped a low pass he had to dive for from Nelson (coaches said he ran the wrong route), and had Logan step in front of him to pick off a pass today. I expect more positives from him to come instead.

Hafoka is struggling. He has one drop and no reported catches in three days of camp. Guys like Apo and Hoffman seem to be in danger of passing him by.

No TE is standing out statistically yet over any other. None of them have had more than 2 receptions by this point. Only Wilson, the fastest, has none to date.

Best defensive player in fall camp so far: Brian Logan. 2 picks already? :crazy:

Also, DE Eathyn M. got his first sack rushing the passer from the outside today. Good man!

We've also seen consistenly good play from Bryson, Van Noy, So'oto, and Frazier so far on the defense. None of them started last year, but they've combined for 10 sacks in three days of camp. Could be a very good sign for putting increased pressure (and pain!) on opposing QBs (like Wynn) this season.
