Kyle Shanahan said last week that Beck hasnât proved he canât do it in the NFL. Thatâs an interesting way to look at him. Beck was drafted in the second round, so he has a quality pedigree. Perhaps being with the Shanahan father-son duo and McNabb will provide him with a level of teaching he wasnât exposed to in Miami and Baltimore.

Italicsmaybe I missed something before, but I never thought he looked that bad in his early days with Miami. I think a lot of the team's lack of success had more to do with a crappy team than Beck. But maybe that's just the BYU homer in me.

Cougy_MonsterI'm really happy for John. This could turn out to be a great situation for him. He says he feels like he's been drafted all over again to a team that really wants him and where he has a legitimate shot at being "the guy" in the future. The Shanahan's would have liked to have drafted Beck out of college, but that didn't work out. Now they've got what they wanted.
I really hope Beck gets a real shot. I've always felt that Detmer got the shaft in the NFL. In his only true shot at leading a team he had the Eagles leading the league in passing offense before he got injured. If somebody would have given him more game time opportunities I think he would have shown why he lit up the NCAA.

More good news for Beck. As a BYU and Skins fan I'm excited for his opportunity in D.C.
