You forgot Utah on the overrated list. I would also add Texas and Florida as well. Funny how this year will be any different for them as it was the last time around for them to replace starting quarterbacks. No way they end the year in the top 5.



Completely agree about VaTech, Gerogia and Auburn. Ohio State may be as well, but the record won't reflect it at the end of the year and they will probably play in the NC game. I am not on the Terrell Pryor bandwagon.

Gotta love how Nebraska can have one solid (not stellar) year coming off a decade of obscurity and they can get that kind of love--particularly since their all=world player, Suh, is gone.

I for one don't think that this poll should come out 'til the 6 or 7th week of the season. I'm not putting too much into this, it's going to change drastically over the season, however, BSU & TCU are in good spots early to do some BCS damage this year.

I totally agree. They should at least wait until the 4 or 5 week when teams are finishing their nonconference games. Pre-season polls give teams unfair advantages in how high they can climb

Actually, I think this is more disrespect for BSU at least. They should be #2. What other team went undefeated, won their bcs bowl and returns 21/22 starters? If bsu were BCS there is no way they are not ranked #1 or #2.

Yes, it still is unfair, but when was the last time that there were 2 non-AQs in the top ten preseason poll? If this was ten years ago BSU would be at 17 and TCU at 20.

I do not think it matters. Florida will lose a game or 2 this year. Texas might with a new QB. Alabama could. Every team there is not so dominant that they could not drop a game. You win each week, you move up. After 13 weeks and 12 games a team, the cream will rise.



I am actually surprised we ended up at #28. Kudos to Bronco. People know what BYU lost, but still respect him enough as a coach to give BYU some votes.

I think Texas loses at Nebraska, and one or two more. Alabama won mainly on defense last year and is looking to revamp. If TCU and/ or BSU go undefeated then they're in really good shape.

These pre-seasons polls are the BS that drives the BCS I think. Let's talk strength of schedule based off of the perceptions on how good a team will be. Even if they under perform, which many of them always do, they still don't far as fall as they should citing the strength of other opponents that started so high.



Example: Oh the SEC is so strong because we have 6 ranked teams, we don't play any decent out of conference games and can cite the fact that we only lose to other ranked SEC teams as evidence of our strength. Alabama will beat the top ten rated Florida Gators and ride that to the national championship. Granted the SEC is really good, but it still bothers me.



On the upside, I do like to see Florida State ranked so high already. That will be a good looking win or loss if they can keep their high ranking. Also TCU should be in the top 3-4 by the time we play them as well.

The top of the SEC is as good as it gets. But the bottom is no better than the bottom of any other league (see Tennessee losing at home to Wyoming a few years back).

I agree that the polls should wait until at least the 5th week. Teams that start out on top can lose a game and still make it to the NC game whereas teams not ranked or ranked low have to go undefeated to be able to jump those teams.

I'm okay with Alabama getting the nod but it is certainly a slap to all non priviledged schools that BSU is not #2. It is sick how nearly the same teams always start at the top. But in fairness BSU beat a non-aq team in their BCS game :6. Had BSU and TCU played other teams they would have gone 2-0 and it would have been a black eye to the BCS. To quote a hero, hey BCS "how about we go to namby pamby land and see if we can get you some self confidence you jackwagon!"

Nebraska's offense flat-out sucks, and they lost their one star defender that helped make up for that. They don't play Oklahoma this year, lucky them, but they aren't that good. Even Washington very well may beat them.

I agree. Their offense stinks and I don't see much improvement, but by all accounts, NU has that game with Texas marked on their calender. With all the bad blood between those two schools (the Big 12 break-up and the CCG last year), Lincoln is gonna be a tough place to play for Texas this year. It could be a trap game for Texas, even if Nebraska isn't as good as advertised. I could be way off, but that's just the way I see it playing out, as of now.

I kind of expect an angry Texas program to unleash hell on Nebraska this one last time, completely demolishing them and mercilessly RUTS.
