Which QB Runs for the Most Yards against us?

Locker will try to stay in the pocket to improve his draft this year.

Kapernick had more than 1100 yards last year which was 300 more than Jefferson.

But Jefferson basically played 4 fewer games also--sat out three, and only played 8 snaps against BYU.

I have to go with Ponder. Your 3 best candidates are going to be Locker, Jefferson, and Ponder. I don't think we have too much trouble containing Nevada, since we can focus more on Kaepernick with Lippincott's graduation. Also, Boise and CSU both held him under 40 yards, so even if we're a mediocre defense, we should be able to handle him. Dalton gained 26 yards against us last year, before subtracting sacks, so he's not really a big yardage threat.



AFA QBs had 71 total yards rushing against us last year, 76 the year before, and 25 in the beat down in '07. Mid 70's seems reasonable to expect from him.



Locker had 98 on 18 carries against us, 3.4 YPC. Last season, he averaged about half that, so I think 50ish would be a reasonable expectation, although our green front 7 might prove me wrong there.



Ponder had 77 on 11 carries against us, 7.0 YPC. That, and the fact that this game is in Tallahassee makes me think he'll do better than that against us. Even if he doesn't, I still think he edges out the other QBs.



Of course, it all will depend on how quickly the front 7 come together, and since UW is first, they stand to benefit most if they take a while. Hopefully, Bronco and Hill can scheme up something to stop all of these guys in their tracks.

Ponder or Kaepernick. Probably Ponder. Locker won't be close.

As long as he's running, anyway. Passing, not so much. ;) But you can bet that he'll want to pass anyway so he can prove Mel Kiper knows what he's talking about (he doesn't) and be the #1 draft pick.

Have you two even watched any Husky football from last year? We return almost all of our starters (especially on offense) and the team is night and day different than what and who you faced in 2008.

I think it will be Jefferson. The running QB theme is so prominent in our early schedule that the defensive coaching staff will have to make it their major focus of fall camp. I am confident with the proper preparation that this Defense will be stopping the QB's in our early games, even if it costs us in other ways. Air Force is different and even if we play well against them, the QB will get 50-80 yds rushing. I don't think any of the other QB's get that kind of yardage when stopping them is our primary focus.
