BYU will actually make more TV money than Utah in 2011, as the Utes will get zero their first year in that league.

Colorado gets a full share immediately. I'm not really too mad about Utah getting in, but Colorado being in over BYU is just ridiculous. And if I were a Utah fan, I'd be pissed that we were getting treated as a 2nd class citizen. As a BYU fan I'm just laughing.

Yeah, those poor utes. It must be awful to go to a BCS conference. I bet they're screaming "WHY MUST BYU MAKE MORE THAN US FOR ONE SEASON? WWWWWWWWHHHHHYYYYY?"

Utah will make 10x more money than BYU makes for their TV contract once they get their full share. Colorado got in because they fit the Pac 10 mold and were already a BCS team, plus bring in a new market. Utah brings the SLC market as would BYU, so no point in bringing them both. Let's be honest most BYU football fans will watch the UTAH Pac 10 games. Utah didn't sell their soul and did no different than any other MWC team would had they been invited, including BYU.

And the Utes will still only go .500 - AND lose to BYU if they actually dare play us, :utard:

IMO that is the worst part of all of this, Utah is getting no money and is going into the confernce a year before thier numbers would have counted in the MWC BCS calculations. If they had stayed in the MWC for that one more year, and then joined the PAC 10 at the same time as Colorado, then the MWC would have had Utah's numbers count. The timing is awefully coincidental...... :utard:

If by "Let's be honest" you meant "It's opposite day! LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!1!", then yeah, sure. If you really want me to be honest, though, I will: I have never watched a yewt football game where they were neither playing BYU nor having a direct impact on BYU's post season possibilities. With the yewts in the PAC-10, the latter will NEVER apply, and therefore I (and the large number of BYU fans like me - you know, since we're all such brainwashed zoobs, or whatever you yewts say up there) will NEVER watch those games.

You have failed to realize the distinction between a yewt fan and a BYU fan. BYU fans are BYU fans first. That is why our stadium is always full, no matter who is there. You yewts are a speed bump along our trail to fame and glory, and have been for decades. We couldn't care less how your classless organization fares, wherever it decides to play. Yewt fans, on the other hand, are generally BYU haters first. And it's not just the fans; it's the team, as well. Ever since Wayne Howard threw a hissy fit about Marc Wilson breaking an NCAA record against him in the waning minutes of yet another beatdown, beating BYU has defined your program's very existence - which, ironically, it has not done with much consistency since that moment.

If we're being honest, the second you stop playing BYU will be the second your program begins to wither and die. Your hatred for us is your lifeblood. Now that you left us behind, your tiny little stadium will remain empty and your bipolar team will have no big games to get up for. The losses will mount, there will be no bowl game to look forward to, and worse, no BYU to look forward to. Nobody to accuse of being self-righteous from within your drunken haze. Nobody to flip off prematurely, as Doman hits Pitman down the sideline on 4th and 17. Nobody to jeer at as Luke Staley takes an option pitch to the house as your defensive line watches, helpless. Nobody to mock as Harline pulls in a TD pass without a yewt within 15 yards. Nobody to swear at as Max Hall, playing with a Type III shoulder sprain, finds Austin Collie on 4th and 18, allowing Harvey to bulldoze your DBs on the way to the endzone. Nobody to make Mormon jokes about as your stooges in pass coverage tackle each other and let Andrew George race untouched into the endzone. No, your hatred for BYU will leave a void that cannot be filled by endless beatdowns at the hands of bigger thugs than yourselves like UCLA and USC, or playing Colorado every year as a "rival." (What will we call that, the Debauchery Bowl?) You won't be able to fill it with anything. It will remain empty. Like your stadium.

In fact, if we're being honest, the real truth is that you yewts will still watch BYU in the vain hope of actually seeing them lose. We, on the other hand, won't give you a second thought. And that's what will hurt you even more than losing: being completely forgotten.

Enjoy!

I have never watched a Puke game unless I wanted to see them lose. Not being a Pac-10 fan, I can now change my ways and think of about 9 games a year I will root for a Pac-12 team: whenever and whoever is playing the Pukes. About the only time I expect to see a Puke game in the future will be when they, as a 5th place finisher in the Pac-12, play the Cougs in the Las Vegas Bowl. And if I ever get one of those surveys to fill out stating what games I have watched, I'll be prone to lie and deny ever watching a Pac-12 game.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again, the Pac-zip is counting on BYU fans watching the :utard: play. That's the ONLY way that :utard: can deliver the SLC market. So any Y fan who watches a :utard: game is giving both the :utard: and the Pac- :utard: exactly what they most desperately need.

So BOYCOTT ALL :utard: GAMES FOREVER! (except when they are scheduled to lose to us)

I agree to a certain extent. I won't be watching them, but I certainly won't consider it a "boycott" The term boycott implies that one actually cares. I couldn't really care less... I'd rather count road kill cats than watch Pac 12 football....

If I didn't watch pUke games while they were in the MWC then why would I watch pUke games when they are in the PAthetiC 12?

The fact that Utah is leaving in 2011 for zero money is the proof that Utah sold their soul. They were the #1 enemy of the BCS and the #1 proponent of the MWC gaining AQ status and they completely SOLD OUT. Yes BYU would have joined the PAC if the opportunity presented itself but you can't tell me that they would have been that classless about it and sold out. I believe BYU would have waited until 2012.

And as for me and my house, we will forever cheer for the blue and white.(Colts included :D )

redneck, if you're right, the BYU should simply refuse to schedule Utah ever again, it would drive them crazy, they would have no hatred to feed off of, they would have nothing to get drunk for, and nothing to play for. Frankly, I wouldn't care if BYU never played Utah again.

Out of deference to Utah? You really think so?

THIS! We're suddenly going to start watching their games because they're in a different conference? The only reason I watch any other MWC team is that they're IN our conference...

Geez guys, I must hang out with the wrong Utah fans. The people I see on a regular basis (mostly long-time Utah season ticket holders) joke and take jabs at BYU but don't spend nearly as much time as some of you think worrying about BYU or if and when they might play again.

I like the rivalry but neither school "needs" the other. If they continue to play, fine. If not, neither school will suffer for it.

I believe that the BCS big wigs and the PAC told Utah that they had to come in 2011 and it was calculated to prevent the MWC from retaining Utah's record and thus inching closer to AQ status. But at that point Utah held all the power. The PAC was stuck with Colorado after the Big 12 power grab failed and Utah could have said "Hey we aren't coming until 2012." Because who else would the PAC have taken? BYU is Mormon so no. Boise is in a terrible TV market. If they stayed at 11 they would look completely foolish. Utah held all the power in that situation and could have easily stuck to their guns and said they were going to join in 2012.

But....They didn't. They sold out. I believe that BYU would have realized the power they had and joined in 2012.

P.S. MTM, you are a level headed Ute fan and I respect that. I hate BYU haters though, get a life.

Hmm. I don't know about the conspiracy theory. BSU makes the MWC as AQ worthy as before. I guess it did mess with the 4 year evaluation period.

But I do believe Utah wanted the money and wanted it now and were going to bail the first chance they had but remember at the time there was some talk that Colorado was going to move in 2011 too.

And if Utah really did have all the negotiating power they wouldn't have taken zero dollars in 2011. They would've done better. And with as crazy as that whole two weeks was Utah was probably afraid the PAC WOULD find someone else. The story seemed to change every hour.

I think any MWC school would've done the same but maybe I'm mistaken.

I will agree with you that the Utah/BSU swap is pretty much an even trade as far as AQ status goes. But Utah + BSU(including what they are projected to do this year) and we are talking AQ status.

And yeah if Utah really had all the negotiating power they wouldn't have taken zero dollars in 2011. But my point is that Utah either didn't realize that they had the negotiating power or they flat out sold out.

And I'm sure that Utah probably was afraid that the PAC would find someone else but if they would've just taken a deep breath and paused for a second they could have seen that there was NOBODY else.

In my opinion they sold out.

I'm afraid the real problem with the MWC is the bottom half of the conference. As far as I understand the AQ qualification process the bottom 4 or 5 need to get their numbers up before the MWC has a chance regardless of who is in their top 3 or 4.

And as far as there being NOBODY else-that's probably easy to see now but during those couple weeks every time Chip Brown farted the tweeted about it. I don't think anyone really knew for sure how it was going to shake out. Utah wasn't about to take a chance. That's my opinion.

Who cares about the bottom of the MWC? We're not asking for AQ status for them. They're not the ones who are going to be competing for BCS bowls. No one seems to care that Duke and Indiana are awful football programs? Why don't they drag down their fellow conference mates?
