Jordan Afo did not qualify--heading to Snow

Appears that 2010 recruit Jordan Afo did not qualify and is heading to Snow College for a year. He does not plan on playing football there so will have 5 to complete 4 years after his mission. Just retaking the ACT, getting the required courses, then heading on a mission and enrolling at BYU after. That is, unless he tanks the ACT again. IF he does poorly again, he might play a year down there. And let's hope he gets it together and qualifies for 2013.

I doubt we ever see him at BYU. Can anyone think of one player who went the JC route after failing to qualify for BYU and later wound up returning to BYU?

Reno Mahe is the first that comes to mind, but I could be wrong. Matangi went juco and tried to come back, but some crimes aren't forgotten, he's been named a starter at Houston...too bad.

Mahe was dismissed after his freshman year for honor code reasons. I don't think he went to Snow but UVSC. He wasn't a non-qualifier.

Tuff break for Afo. He's been through alot. I recall Afutiti failed to qualify and eventually returned to BYU. (Only to fail out unfortunately.)

This frees up a scholie for another JC player or late recruit or early returned RM, like maybe Murphy? Or is the receiving too stacked for him to see the field now???

What's the deal on Jake Murphy? (btw, I dont' think he projects as a college receiver anyhow, he's more outside linebacker)

Sounds like he returned home early and didnt' have a scholarship waiting for him at the time? (His dad is loaded, not sure how lack of a scholarship would keep him from attending the Y if he wanted.)

He came back early, his brother was granted preferred walk on status, but accepted a scholarship with :utard:, so Jake was going to transfer to play with his brother. I agree, it doesn't make sense since dad can easily pay their way. It's just wrong for legacies like the Murphys to play for BYU's rival, the SNOT.

Given the scholies that have recently opened up, if Jake Murphy doesn't play at BYU, it'll be because he didn't want come here, not because he didn't have a scholie available.

Anyone hear any news on if Jordan will qualify for BYU in 2011? Curious to see if we get him, or if he plays for Snow, then Utah, like many non-qualifiers do.

Afo has Utah written all over him now. Utah has a few players who were suppose to be at BYU but failed to enroll cause of something.

last I heard was that he was planning on starting his mission in 2011.
