ESPN Fires Graham Watson

"Speaking of ESPN.com bloggers: For those interested, Graham Watson is out as the ESPN.com blogger for non-AQ conferences. Not sure what happened with Watson, who I got to know fairly well over the last two years. She worked very hard in what was an almost impossible situation, covering more than 50 teams spread all the way across the nation. What I don't know is if her departure means ESPN is not going to have a blogger at all for the non-AQ conferences or if the .com will have someone else do it. If not, then I think ESPN.com is missing a big opportunity with a lot of college football fans across the nation."

This is the best news I've read in a long, long time. Few people have sucked at their job as much as her. Todd Christensen and Tom Kirkland think Graham Watson sucks. PK, Hans, and Monson and Graham all think she sucks. Wait, here it is: Frank Dolce thinks Graham Watson sucks.

Perhaps one of the current best non AQ teams of All-time (according to Graham) have hired her as their personal Wrubell. Those teams would be Central Michigan, Boise State, Navy, and Toledo

All I know is that since Graham wrote her top n0n-AQ player list, there have been exactly zero articles on Non-AQ teams on ESPN. So if they are dropping that coverage, I will boycott them. I am hoping there are just gearing up a new writer who actually does their homework. Many teams to follow, but 5 or 6 deserve the most ink from year to year.

Graham had a horrible gig. Every other blogger had to cover about 10 teams in the same basic geographic area. She had cover five times as many across the entire nation. No easy feat.

Didn't she get married recently? I remember reading something about her bachelorette party. My guess is that this is more related to her new marital status and that either this Idaho guy doesn't know what he is talking about or she needed a new gig to better fit her new marital status.

I don't think ESPN will drop the non-AQ blog. There is a huge non-AQ fanbase, and as long as ESPN finds it worth broadcasting the non AQ games, they will blog about non AQ teams. I just don't expect the quality of reporting to be much better.
