It was a great hire. Mike is the type of guy that gets the most out of his talents, and if he puts the same effort into coaching that he did into playing, he's going to be very successful.

Nice! I miss watching that guy play. Ought to be a good fit.

It should be noted that he's been hired to replace Tim Lincomb as director of basketball operations and not as an assistant coach.

The only time those titles make a difference is with NCAA compliance with limits on coaches and the size of the paycheck. Like Tim LaComb, Hall will be sitting on the sidelines in the Winter. It's worth noting as well that LaComb was promoted directly from DOBO to Assistant Coach--should tell you that there is definitely some coaching coming from the DOBO position.

IIRC, one of the main duties of the DOBO is logistics. Scheduling the busing to and from games. Reserving hotels, chartering flights. Communicating with other DOBOs to setup potential matchups.



And yes, because they're not coaches, I believe they're allowed to have more contact with the players during the offseason and during the week.
