Book of Mormon evidence in Utah

I'm on a long journey... Searching for Book of Mormon evidences that have taken place in America, but more specifically Utah(since I live in Utah).

For instance -- The Manti Temple.

On the morning of the site dedication, Brigham Young confided to Warren S. Snow that Temple Hill was the spot where Book of Mormon Prophet Moroni dedicated the land for a temple site.

Kinda interesting since that person who is dedicating that land HAS to be at that exact spot of the dedication. Meaning... The Prophet Moroni was in Manti, UT.

When the Manti Temple was rededicated by our Prophet, Gordon B. Hinkley. He rededicated this temple AND the hill for which it stands on. If anyone has noticed... This hill is almost a mile wide at some places.

PLUS... There have been some interesting finds(artifacts) within this hill. Depending on who you talk to, they'll say they're a fraud and others say they're authentic. These findings have "reformed Egyptian" written on them that match other findings in the mid-west(another story for another time).

According to Isaac Morley, who was friends with the Ute Chief Wakara(who happened to become a convert to the Church) a couple years before the Manti Temple was built... Chief Wakara told him of their oral tradition they passed on from generation to generation, of that hill(Manti Temple) was the ancient site of a temple and or alter.

The ground which the St. George Temple stands on now... Had already been dedicated by the Nephites, just like the Manti Temple. Just don't know if it was the Prophet Moroni or some other B of M prophet.

Anyone have any cool stories OR... Um... "Leads"???

I've heard the same story about the Manti Temple. Good luck on your journey to find evidence for the Book of Mormon.

I'm one who believes there likely isn't much evidence to find. Not because it doesn't exist but because the Book of Mormon is meant to be accepted on faith. A person won't gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon or the divinity of Joseph Smith's misison through archeology, but through reading, studying and prayer (see Moroni 10:3-5).

I've been down to Mexico and seen ruins carved with the Star of David, Camels, etc. I've seen the Peruvian ruins of Machu Picchu and they needed something bigger than men to build it. There are indian tribes in the Carolinas that swear they're descended from Hebrew nations. There's plenty of evidence out there, one just has to look.

Exactly!

Not only the Carolina's, but all the tribes in the Ohio Valley have Middle Eastern DNA. Their scientific term is called HaploGroup X. And these tribes have oral tradition of fighting against white skin tribes.

Kitic-

Don't get me wrong, but I don't only have faith in the B of M... I know for a fact. Some people don't care about that stuff... Which is cool.

BUT...

Some people like to visit the Church center in Palmyra NY and take Church tours to actually see the Sacred Grove and Hill Comorah. Millions visit Liberty Hall to see the actual setting of where the Declaration of Independence was signed.

I for one... Am extremely curious in the "Mysteries of God" and want to learn more about these Sacred settings of the B of M.

There was a book on my mission that i never got a hold of, but was called "strategy of the Gods" or "Strategia de los Dioses" that purported to be an archeologists journey to identify a temple of Solomon in the New World since Nephi built his in the same proportions.

He claims it fits a temple in Peru I believe, but never joined the church... maybe I should have actually read it.

Then there's President Kimballs' visit to the Sun Temple in Peru... look that one up. Lots of interesting tidbits there.

Nahum in the Saudia Arabian desert

and Lehi's Tree of Life stone that is a seminary manual favorite.

Dang... You should have read it! I'm curious to hear what its about.

As for the ruins in South America and Mexico. I don't ever recall the B of M building their buildings out of stone. It talks about them building everything from earth and wood. Captain Moroni's forts/buildings were all earth and wood.

I know all those ancient people are remnants of Nephites and Lamanites, but I'm learning more and more that America is the B of M setting.

Don't get me wrong guys... All this is totally irrelevant to the overall purpose of life on Earth BUT so is BYU football.

Have any of you visited http://www.jefflindsay.com/BMEvidences.shtml. Jeff Lindsay also has blog that's pretty good. He's a rocket scientist from Wisconsin who has some pretty keen insights into stuff. His regular blog makes for interesting reading and some of the links/articles/places/pictures he has on his Book of Mormon evidences is just fascinating.

I'm not familiar with him or his site. I'll have to go over and check it out.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention the countless tales of the "Great White God," in all three (Inca, Maya, Aztec) major tribes that ruled the Americas. Not to mention a cross-shaped grave at Tulum in Mexico that light illuminates through a window on the summer solstice and has steps leading out of it to the East, also a widely carved Incan God in Peru with two sticks in one hand.

All that said, Kitic makes a good point that no one will be converted by artifacts and ruins, but by faith, works, and study. Though it is cool to look at the evidence that's out there.

It was in Provo that I got my answer that the Book of Mormon is God's word. There is lots I do not understand, but that truth is a part of me to my core. About only evidence I have, in fact, but then ultimately the only evidence I really will ever need.

Here is a quarterly magazine where each and every magazine is feeled with so much information, I can't take it all in, in one or two sittings.

http://www.ancientamerican.com/

In here... They discus all their finds/research in America, explain Native's oral traditions that is passed on from generation to generation, history of different tribes.

The creator of this magazine is LDS and everything he finds... There's a LDS tie-in to almost everything that is discussed. If it doesn't say it... You automatically tie it into our religion.

About the Michigan Relics that were found over a hundred years ago.

i've never heard anything about them so this was an interesting read, at least until I got to the part where multiple archeologists and scholars, including James Talmage and several other Church scholars, reviewed the Relics and labeled them categorical Frauds.

Too bad the forgeries weren't more convincing... ;)

Exactly! I'll add to this later on...
