Sounds pretty positive--like he knows more than he is willing to let on.

There were much more interesting and telling quotes than that. I'm not criticizing your choice of quotes - just saying to those who may be reading: there are some very interesting things said in this article.

Wow... I'm extremely curious what Holmoe has up his sleeve!

This is where I kinda wish Holmoe would throw out something for us to nip on. Utah's coaches broadcasted they're going to the PAC, and Holmoe keeps mum.

Two extreme ends, IMO. Kinda want him to be in the middle at this point in time.

What part is eluding to anything? All I got was that BYU is BYU and will remain BYU...currently where they are.

Oh, YBrit, ever the pessimist. Can't say I'm surprised. ;) Truth is, it can be read several ways and the way each person reads it (and with what background and information they have) can be quite different from the next.

BYU was burned big time in the 90's when we were going to the Big XII and the TX legislature forced Baylor in our place. BYU looked foolish and won't make that mistake again. Regardless of what is, or is not, going on, BYU and Holmoe won't be saying anything until things are signed on the dotted line.

BYU wasn't burned because they leaked anything that time. In fact, the AD at the time, Rondo Fehlberg, didn't even say anything about what happened until after he left BYU. And the only reason it happened back then was Gov. Richards was a Baylor grad. Had GW Bush been in office at the time, there would have been no changes.

How is that not something to nibble on? He might as well say "We mean to join the Big 12". This is great news.

I took it as "we don't have to play Utah anymore so now we can schedule a REAL school in its place."

or

"When the BCS is reorganized into superconferences, we've been promised a perpetual BCS berth in the new organization....in 2046"

or

" The Big 12 says 'they'll think about it' whereas last week they said 'no way'.

Yup. I'm excited now.

I never heard what happened in the 90's with Felberg and the Big 12. Is there anywhere I could read about that whole thing?

Maybe I didn't word it quite right. He obviously meant that BYU has the opportunity to TRY to get into the Big 12. What other opportunity opened up in the last couple of weeks? It's the only one, and is obviously what he's talking about.

How about the opportunity to renegotiate the TV contract, with BYU keeping the Utah market and Boise State coming in to add the Idaho market?

What about converting the MWC to the Big XII financial formula, where the top schools (like BYU) make more money than the bottom schools (like Wyoming)?

What about adding Fresno State, Nevada, and Hawaii in 2012 and creating a MWC championship game?

What about the creation of a new super-conference, with the best schools from the MWC and Big XII or WAC/C-USA?

What about a potential new deal looming to possibly provide an auto-bid to the Fiesta bowl, or in a couple of year the BCS Cotton bowl?

What about going independant in football only, same as Navy's football team and BYU's women's gymnastics?

What about a long-term scheduling deal with Notre Dame?

What about bringing back the wrestling team?

What about BYU-Idaho restarting their athletic department?

What about expanding LaVell Edwards Stadium to 75,000 seats?

What about the idea of Kalani Sitake leaving the Utes to come be an assistant coach at BYU?

What about the NCAA deciding to hold a future men's basketball Final Four in Provo?

What about investing in a new channel, BYUsports, a for-pay athletics-only version of BYUTV?

What about re-televising all BYU sports for free online at byucougars.com 24 hours after the event first occurs?

I'm too imaginative, perhaps, but it COULD mean a lot of things. Probably nothing that great in the short-term though.
