So How do we get the Big 12 to take UNLV and UNM? It would be nice to clean out some of our football dead weight. Doesn't this improve our BCS auto-qualifying numbers?

Before you dismiss it as pure wishful thinking, there are solid reasons why taking the flagship universities of two major western states might eventually be an upgrade.



For starters, in a newly aligned Big 12, Las Vegas and Albuquerque would match up with five other markets currently in the Big 12. Las Vegas (42) and Albuquerque (44) are bigger television markets than current Big 12 markets Oklahoma City (45), Austin (49), Tulsa (61), Wichita (69) and Des Moines (71).



UNLV and UNM also fit comfortably into the Big 12. They are both large state institutions with powerful influence in their regions



First off I didn't know that New Mexico and Nevada are considered two MAJOR western states unless they are talking about land size, and second what is a large state institution?



Sounds like this guy is petitioning at least UNLV so he could get a free trip to vegas.

Why so much focus on tv market for a city? They pull the whole state. What is the ranking for that market and how does it compare.. BSU pulls all of Idaho and I am hoping that it includes Eastern Oregon where I live and that the cable company picks up the Mtn. Then I can leave Directv plus it might make the contract more valuable and more money to the MWC.
